I looked up using a controller for Star Wars The Old Republic and I saw multiple people attacking a poster because he was using a controller. Kind of like how the OP stated.

Xbox One, PS3, and I believe PS4 controllers work as PC controllers, too, as they support XInput. Microsoft even makes wireless Xbox controllers that come with a USB dongle for use with Windows PC's.
Though there are also some programs out there that let you use pretty much any controller you want, bypassing XInput, as long as it uses USB.

I always thought all these people were being sarcastic or joking Generally the ones that say stuff like Glorious PC Master Race are joking or being sarcastic. my computer was built like 5 years ago and still runs every pc game fine the "million dollar gaming computer" stereotype isn't really true anymore. That said I play some games on consoles and same games on PC so I never had a dog in this fight. Xbox One, PS3, and I believe PS4 controllers work as PC controllers, too, as they support XInput. Yeah, I use an xbox 360 controller for any game that plays better with a controller. Kind of like how the OP stated. ... with the amount of buttons required to play SWtOR I can't imagine using a controller would work in that game at all. (not that it makes it ok that some were attacking them)

MMO's are pretty terrible for controllers and even the ones that can use them, like FFXIV, are generally better played with a keyboard+mouse combo. Or using a specially designed MMO mouse.
DC Universe Online is one of the only ones I can think of that works as well with a controller as it does with a KB+M. Mainly because there aren't as many keybinds compared to other MMO's and a lot more actiony gameplay.

On my laptop, I have an NES emulator.
So when I 'PC Game', I'm really just playing Mike Tyson's Punchout!!
Hook my HDMI cable up to my tv and knock dudes the f*** out on a 48 inch flat screen the way nature intended.

This thread is stressing me out too much, I knew making it was a mistake... I'll leave it for now, and try and enjoy Christmas tomorrow without thinking about it. Dude. Seriously. If a simple discussion on a forum is stressing you out too much, you need to take a step back and evaluate some stuff. It's not even like people are arguing. Honestly, after the whole mixtape debacle, comments like this just come off as attention seeking, "woe is me" crap. Anyway, on topic, as someone who pays both, I do think it's daft. Most of the time, I'll buy new games on console, and get older ones for cheap on Steam, play 'em with mods etc. Or just play ones I can't get on console, like Total War games etc. I tend to get a new laptop every 5 years or so, get a high-end one (Current one runs Skyrim on high with a shit tonne of mods), so I can play all the games I previously couldn't when I do, move up my bar for games I can run without problem. Prime example would be recently purchasing Insurgency, it runs ok on my Laptop, but not great. So when I upgrade, it'll hopefully run well on my next computer and I'll be fine for a few years. Oh, and regards to K&M vs Controller, 90% of the time, playing adventure games, driving games, shooting games, I'll pick controller if it's supported. But for shit like the aforementioned Total War, I have to stick to mouse, but obviously, it'd be daft playing that kind of game with a controller.

I do find it weird how we've gone from "graphics don't matter as long as the gameplay is good" to "my version of the game has slightly better FPS, thus it's better".

As long as I get to shoot something, I don't care if it's on a console.

If you are an elitist, be it of gaming/music/TV/movies/whatever, you are only exposing how small-minded and frail of ego you, your self are. If you need to put down others to feel good about your self, you are a douchebag, period.

Can't see the jewel in his turban flash on a screen that small.

So its Christmas day and I really don't want to be doing this, but I guess I have to. Well I did regret making this thread right after I posted it, but it seems to have gone better than expected. Well I know for a fact that the whole 'PC Master Race' thing did start as a joke, but somewhere along the line people started saying it completely seriously, and that's what bothers me. On your first point, as I've said many times on these forums, I have no self esteem and I've never been comfortable with myself in any way. And on your third point, let me explain why none of that stuff applies to me: 'You're limited on peripherals' - Well I don't need them. 'you don't have backwards compatibility' - I don't need it, I have all the consoles. 'games are more expensive' - Okay...first of all, I only buy physical media as I stated earlier, so I don't care if they are cheaper on PC, for my collecting purposes I want the physical product, even if it's more expensive. Secondly, I live in Australia, and games are more expensive here in general. And finally, I rarely, if ever, pay full price for games. I either shop around and find the cheapest stores, or I wait for them to end up in the clearance sections of stores. And theres also used games from second hand shops as well. 'You can't upgrade the console' - So what? That's actually one of the things I like about consoles the most, they're a self-contained thing which stays a self contained thing, and I like that. 'The graphics are frequently limited comparatively' - This one I don't care about. I'm fine with console graphics. 'lack of modding' - I don't do/am not interested in modding anyway. 'You don't have to pay for the ability to play on the internet' - I don't play games on the internet anyway. I'm a solo gamer. 'consoles have a limited shelf life' - And this one I don't get at all. I have a very big collection of consoles, they all work perfectly fine (except for my original NES, but I also have a toploader model). And if you mean 'shelf life' in the sense of new game releases, well that doesn't matter either...it's not like the games suddenly disappear from existence, all that happens is that they end up becoming 'retro' games and in the second-hand shops and eBay. Either way, I don't understand what you meant here. 'With the rise of services like Steam and GOG...' - Again, I'm physical media only. As I said before, the collecting aspect is something that I like just as much as playing the actual games, and if I did the whole digital downloads thing it would ruin that experience. So those are just some of the reasons why I prefer console gaming over PC gaming, and why console gaming suits me better personally. If you find PC gaming much better, then that's perfectly fine, I have no problem with that. But I just prefer console gaming and collecting. And again, it bares repeating, I personally don't see how PC gaming, being digital-only these days, could be 'objectively better', as it completely ruins the physical collection hobby aspect of gaming that I've had since I was so young. But that's just me though, I realise not everybody is interested in collecting, but still. Steam is actually totally for the game collector. I won't lie, I probably own around 200 games just on Steam I've never spent any real time in. Thanks to digital delivery on both consoles and PC, you can get things you wouldn't be able to find without having to pay rediculous prices or go through a depressing amount of effort. No more having to shell out 100 bucks for an ATLUS title because it was short printed as always and your local stores just didn't get shipped it. No more having to hunt flea markets for a 15 year old PC copy. Almost any game you want is a few clicks and a download away. ...wow. You've completely missed the point of my previous posts. As I said before I'm a physical media collector, and I only buy games on physical media. I don't like digital downloads, when I buy games or movies or music, I want tangible, physical media. Hunting around second-hand shops and browsing eBay is all part of the fun of the hobby. I also don't consider digital downloads a proper collection. As I keep trying to explain, I'm a physical media collector, and a bunch of digital data floating around on a computer isn't at all the same as a tangible, physical media collection...not to mention the fact that with digital games you can't admire the cover art, display them on a shelf, or anything really. What you're suggesting as a benefit would, in reality, completely destroy my collecting hobby. Oh, and for the record, the last expensive out of print ATLUS game I bought I paid $5 for. On my laptop, I have an NES emulator. So when I 'PC Game', I'm really just playing Mike Tyson's Punchout!! Hook my HDMI cable up to my tv and knock dudes the f*** out on a 48 inch flat screen the way nature intended. Yeah, well last time I played Mike Tyson's Punchout I beat Mike Tyson playing the original NES cartridge on an actual NES.

I hate pc gaming because there's never a guarantee the game will work.
I downloaded Fallout not long ago, it won't run on my computer.
Downloaded a space strategy game not long ago. It wouldn't run until I'd downloaded and installed a font package because the ingame font wasn't on my laptop.
At least with a console I can put the disk in and know it's going to work without installing new font packages.

My problem is that: JSRF is what I want to play, where I want to LIVE as much as possible.
I bought an Xbox in 2002 to play JSRF, it died in 2010.
I bought a replacement Xbox in 2012, it died in 2014 the day (the f***ing DAY!) that I got a video projector!
I bought a replacement replacement Xbox in 2015, it crashed when trying to load Rokkaku Dai Heights.
I bought a replacemnt copy of JSRF to play on my replacement Xbox and it crashed when trying to load Rokkaku Dai Heights.
I want to play JSRF.
GIVE ME A WAY TO DO THIS!
Xbox, Ngage, PC!
I'm not playinv favorites at this point!

I've never heard of this phenomenon before, but if you're still reading the comments section if any website, then you can find any group spouting hateful BS about any subgroup.
I'm sure right now there's a comments section spewing insults at PC gamers, but you don't see it because its in a corner of the internet you don't frequent, so to speak.
