I know they got around it by not even tagging Barrett into the match, but seriously - what was the point? Why not just have the Uso's vs Sheamus and Rusev and have Ambrose do something else? I'm sure the people who haven't heard about Barrett's injury were wondering why he wasn't being tagged in or getting physically involved.

Only think I can think of is they felt they needed the healthy 5 men to drag out some of the show with the horribly split roster and didn't want the heels at a disadvantage.

I'm guessing they don't want to acknowledge that Barrett's hurt, especially with the League of Nations being a new group, since a group of three jobbers is significantly less threatening than a group of four jobbers. And if they were to just either keep Barrett off screen or only as a manager, it'd be more likely to give it away.
But, otherwise, yeah. I thought the same thing yesterday - just do Sheamus/Rusev against the Usos, and then have Dean, say, squash Slater in a 3-5 minute match.

I think the reason that they didn't do that is because in their minds, Sheamus/Rusev vs the Usos would have to be a bit "one sided" if not a straight up squash in favor of the heels simply because Sheamus and Rusev are "top guys" and the Usos are "just" a tag team. So having another "top guy" like Ambrose on the team gives the Usos more of a fighting chance.

It would've been easy to pull one of those guys out of the Miz TV segment to face Dean though. They could even keep the Owens beat down that happened exactly the same.

When was the last time they did not have a six man tag team match on Raw? Seriously? I honestly think they were desperate for another six man tag so they made Barrett stand on the apron

The whole point of the segment was for Big Show to beat up a bunch of guys and face off with Ryback. Miz is Miz. And Ryback, Ryder, Goldust, and R-Truth are faces. So the only guy he could've wrestled is Heath and that likely would've just been a squash and Dean's a guy they'd probably want to give more screen time to than that.

Barrett's injury is probably not that serious, and he doesn't want to miss screen time after missing so much last year/earlier this year. If he's going to be cleared to wrestle in a week or two, he can just hang around and be a ham until he heals up.

It was also the 1st time since November 9 that there was only 1 tag team match on the show.

Not the first time WWE did this
The reason that the Iron Sheik won the WrestleMania Gimmick Battle Royal was because he was basically not medically cleared to take an over the top rope bump...
