Not seen any pre-Network NXTs since the date they first aired, I'd forgotten so much...
- The old instrumental theme, the white mat and black ropes, the announce position being on the stage and to the left, not beside the stage and to the right.
- A tiny crowd, less than half what they have now. Just two rows of floor seating and about five temporary bleachers. Izzy's section to the left of the aisle is just empty space. It's mostly families and there's not an irreverent chant to be heard. There are Cena and Sheamus signs!
- JR is the first person to take to the stage in this new era of NXT, introducing Dusty as GM, then taking his place at commentary with Regal for some of the gentlest, most informative and least intrusive commentary WWE has ever given us.
- Insufferable babyface Bo Dallas talking about how he has 'a smile that shines for miles, a fist that breaks bricks, and a chin that won't give in' then beating a pre-Ascension (Rick) Viktor with the weakest spear ever. No wonder people quickly came to hate this guy.
- Dolph's brother Briley Pierce doing interviews at the top of the stage. No Renee yet.
- Hype video for Seth Rollins with a blonde combover and no gimmick beyond 'I'm different because I dye my hair and listen to metal' making his debut next week. There's also one of the original Wyatt vignettes with him preaching in a swamp mixed in with backwoods stock footage.
- Intellectual saviour Damien Sandow refusing to fight a young, frizzy-haired Jason Jordan, who has 'Get Some' written on the back of his trunks.
- The OG Ascension of Kenneth 'Bram' Cameron and Konnor (O'Brian) with torches on their palms squashing the jobber team of CJ Parker and the future Tyler Breeze, Mike Dalton. Their finisher was a jawbreaker into a flapjack known as the Downcast.
- 'Dirty' Johnny Curtis and 'Chicks and America' Derrick Bateman continuing their Redemption storyline with a confrontation in a men's bathroom that was clearly recorded during a main roster taping rather than at Full Sail if the roaring crowd in the distance is anything to go by.
- A very good main event featuring Tyson Kidd beating pre-Axel Michael McGillicutty.
- No match or segment for the women whatsoever. The only female talent featured on the show is Alicia Fox's sister Caylee Turner as ring announcer, and the camera crew seem to have been instructed to do their best to avoid getting her in shot.
What a difference three and a half years makes. Share your memories of developmental NXT's early years in this thread!
