I was just reading about him and saw he was one of only three people to challenge Ivan Koloff for the WWF Championship during Koloff's transitional reign. However, I really don't know much about the guy. Anyone know much about him?
I know he went by the name "Canadian Wildman" and as pretty well traveled. He even had a stint in NJPW back in 1975.

Gene DuBois was Dave McKigney, who was most notable (I suppose) for being the trainer for Terrible Ted the wrestling bear. For a long time, tried running outlaw shows against bigger Canadian promotions and didn't do so well in that regard. Teamed with a guy named the Wolfman for a bit. One of his bears (not Terrible Ted) ended up mauling and killing his girlfriend. Here's a great article on him: slam.canoe.com/Slam/Wrestling/2013/06/09/20886321.htmlSide note regarding my own connection to Dave: Years ago I was writing the Official Handbook profile for the Spider-Man villain The Grizzly, and they gave me the okay to come up with a place of birth for him. Since he was a former pro wrestler wearing a bear suit, the Grizzly is now officially from a small (fictional) town in Canada called McKigney.

Also should note he died in the same car accident that took Adrian Adonis.

Knew that name sounded familiar and you just connected those dots. Bravo.
