I suspect New Japan pushed Yoshi Tatsu on Kelly & Striker.
And then, they had to work around him. Yoshi is a nice guy (although some of those digs of his were sort of dickish) but his english is not good enough to do this. If they wanted a Japanese wrestler that spoke English on the broadcast, albeit not a New Japan guy, they could have gotten Ebessan/Kikutaro.
The Japanese PBP hinted he was going back to being Naofumi Yamamoto, by the way. I guess Yoshi Tatsu is too close to to Yoshi-Hashi

A buddy of mine on a hip-hop forum described their chemistry as "all back and no forth."
That said, on paper, I thought originally Yoshi was just going to translate the promos in real time and not do actual live color. Pretty surprised it was a three man booth.

I listened to Japanese commentary. I watch everything else in Japanese, why bother with Striker and Kelly?

They were EXTREMELY awkward.
Tatsu was definitely struggling, but the real problem was (Per usual) Matt Striker.

I feel like Matt Striker is okay when he has someone louder/more boisterous to play off. When he's supposed to carry it on his own he tends to struggle.
