Other than the XFL of course!
What was that thing they had on Spike airing around when Raw still was there? Something with basketball and trampolines?
Well, that certainly did exist, didn't it?

How could we forget the USFL? The league founded by everyone's favorite windbag, Donald Trump.

You're indeed thinking of Slamball. It was basically dunking basketballs off trampolines while trying not to get hit. It was fun while it lasted.
As for other leagues, the USFL was the first one I thought of. Herschel Walker, Steve Young, Jim Kelly and Reggie White were among the future NFL stars that got started in the USFL. Lex Luger and Ron Simmons were teammates with the Tampa Bay Bandits, with Steve Spurrier as their head coach.

I need to watch Halloween Havoc '91 just to hear Jim Ross' commentary on the Luger-Simmons main event. Because I'm sure Ross brought that up a lot. Ross has a real fetish, especially in his WCW days of bringing up wrestlers' legitimate sports careers.

There were like, three Formula 1 alternatives that came about in the mid-2000s that I feel like all used the same car or close to the same car. A1GP, Superleague Formula, and GP Masters. Superleague Formula had probably the most confused concept of the three of them, since they pretty much were banking an entire racing league on football sponsorships... A1GP tried to make the teams represent countries versus the usual style for motorsport, which... again, just seems like it made things unnecessarily confusing.

On the topic, do any of you remember how to do the Rockin' Bowl Dance? And can we count Rollergames? Yes it had a magazine, 2 video games, and other merchandise, but it only lasted one season. /It was also a great "side dish" to whatever wrestling aired Sat. mornings then.

Admittedly, it wasn't really a "serious sports league", but remember Comedy Central's Dodgeball show with all the gimmicked out teams? Loved that shit.

Does the ABA count as a failed basketball league (they were merged with the NBA)?
Almost all of the cool innovations came from the ABA that you see in today's NBA.

I was going to say Rollergames. That was my shit when I was like 7. Like you said, I remember watching it right after WWF Superstars on Saturday mornings. It also had that killer theme song. There are a few episodes on YouTube that are fun to watch.

If it counts, I'd throw in WSX. Because it's hard to not be entertained by wrestling mixed with explosions

In 2008 there was a Darts League of Legends tournament which featured all of the greatest darts professional Darts players from the 1980s (Eric Bristow, John Lowe, Bob Anderson, Bobby George etc)
Unfortunately as it was 20 years later, the ageing legends could no longer see the board and it became a rather sad spectacle. The league folded after one year.

In 1914 a third baseball league (the Federal League) began play, and only lasted for two years due to lack of finances. One of the teams, the Chicago Whales, were the original tenants of what is now Wrigley Field.

In other leagues, the World Football League lasted all of a year and a half (1974-75). World Football League
