I totally love the movies, from the heartfelt original to some of the more ludicrous sequels, and the best way it wrapped up with 2006's poignant, if very sentimental 'Rocky Balboa'. If I decide to watch through then I also never miss out V. It's the worst, but it's still part of the story.
And now with the hew film, 'Creed', a fabulous new chapter had been added to the legacy.
1. Rocky 2. Rocky II 3. Creed 4. Rocky Balboa 5. Rocky III 6. Rocky IV 7. Rocky V

The one where he fights the Russian.
The first one.
The one where Rocky & Apollo have a friendly fight at the end.
The second one.
The fifth one.
Haven't seen Balboa or Creed yet.

I'm not going to pretend like IV was a really well written movie, but damn if it wasn't the most fun movie. So yeah, it's towards the end of the list in terms of just being a "good movie". But if I want to watch a Rocky movie that's the most entertaining? I'll watch IV.
Does that even make sense? Or am I drunk

Or am I drunk Nah Rocky IV wrote the book on how to make your franchise jump the shark but in glorious over the top fashion. Like robots,James Brown, the most cold blooded villain who says shit like "If he dies he dies", punching at 2150 which is enough to crack brick walls, fighting in Russia on Christmas, 3 montages, 80's synth pop music, old timey training, climbing a mountain to scream Dragon, and ending communism. And yet it is somehow more loved than Rocky 5 which was the first film since the second that tried to go back to its serious and gritty roots. For that Rocky 4 is a masterpiece

One thing about Creed, and granted I could be putting too much thought into this, but Adonis Creed is Apollo's illegitimate son, right? Apollo was killed in 1985 by Drago, so assuming it's set in the present day that would make Adonis thirty at the youngest. Not exactly an up and comer, is he?
As for the rankings, I'd have to put Rocky II first, purely from a sentimental point of view. I loved watching the training montage as a kid, and hearing THAT music when he leaves his house to train still makes me smile today.

Though some think rocky 4 was set straight after 3 in 1981, I think it is set in 1985 when the film was set. This is backed up by Rock saying he's been with Adrian for nine years. Anyway, as Apollo is fighting Drago in 85, his mistress is pregnant with Adonis Creed. Apollo dies many months before baby Creed is born at the start of 86. So Creed being set in 2015 would have Adonis at around 29. Michael B Jordan is 28 in real life. Which is basically the exact same age as Stallone was in the first Rocky. Both have had a number of small scale fights under their belts and then they students get their big shots at around thirty.

Rocky II Rocky Rocky Balboa Creed Rocky IV Rocky III Rocky V
It's hard for me to rank them since I love all of them. Except 5, that one I like to watch from time to time, but it's very poorly done. I love Rocky 4 though. It's cheesy and a little far-fetched, but it's so much fun to watch.

Rocky Creed Balboa III II IV V
My own unpopular opinion most likely, but Rocky II felt like wish fulfillment fluff for people who couldn't accept Rocky losing in the first movie.

4 (I know, I'm wrong, but I just enjoyed it for being the ultimate cheesy 80s movie with the best music) 1 Balboa 3 2 Creed (Good movie, but thought Creed himself was kind of lacking, though Jordan has done good work, and the antagonist was the worst of the series) 5
