I think it'd be cool if he wasn't on the roster just yet, and it was just a quick preview that re-established his feud with Owens so they can pick it up either for Mania or right after. That's exactly what it was. In particular, it was a wise decision to have Sami take the heat off Owens eliminating Styles. They killed a few birds with that stone.

Zayn himself just admitted he's not 100% yet, he's probably re-acclimating himself down in NXT and at the PC.
I see him showing up on the WrestleMania card in some fashion, probably in a feud with Owens after the Rumble set-up, but right now he's wrapping up in NXT and getting back in gear.

But if they gave Sami Zayn screen time, we wouldn't have gotten an hour of the Rock talking.

He still got unfinished business in NXT before his official WWE callup. I know people want Zayn vs Owens at Mania but he's still in NXT shoring up the main event babyfaces until Apollo is ready to take over or Itami is cleared for in ring action.

They should of kept him away before this Rumble appearance. I feel like I've seen him enough on the main roster already.
