I am another who liked the 1991-93 theme....I hear Bobby Heenan going "WOOOOOO!" over the commentary whenever I listen to it. I like that when Flair returned in the 2000s, they added the goddamn Woo to the theme. Or am I misremebering that?

That is not Also Sprach Zarathrusta, but sounds like Jim Johnson coming up with something close enough that one could mistake for the original.

WCW licensed the original version as it was a mainstream track by Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra. He then used 2 different tracks ("It's Hard To Be Humble” by Mac Davis & “Dance Champion” by Chic feat. Kool & The Gang). There is a mystery version of "Also Sprach Zarathustra" / "Thus Sprach Zarathustra" which is a faster synthesizer sounding version, it is unknown where this is from. Then there is a mix of his 1st and "Fanfare for the Common Man" by Emerson Lake & Palmer, then comes his most famous one which he used throughout the remainder of his WCW days apart from Four Horsemen tracks, which is "Also Sprach Zarathustra" from Valentino Music Library.
When Flair went to WWF he did use the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra version for a short time and at least once on TV, soon replaced by Jim Johnstons "Early Sprach" theme. WWF could have licensed the Valentino version but at the time WWF only licensed production music for bumpers/intros/VHS, even then few and far between. When Flair came back to WWF they did license the Valentino version.

The real theme change crime committed by WWE was first using Bill Goldberg's no kidding WCW theme from Exodus then switching to an inferior WWE creation that just did not create the same excited anticipation I am probably the only person that really doesn't hear a difference Me neither, I never understood why the WWE version of goldberg theme was such an insult for everyone since they sound almost the same for me. WCW is a little more epic, but there is not this big difference imo

I like Flair's WWF theme a little better. I think it helps his entrance that the opening (the timpani) is stronger than the fade-in of his WCW theme, and that the "ta-daaa" part comes earlier in the song, as he steps through the curtain.

I think I'm biased towards Flair's WWF theme, mostly because his first run there in the early 90's was possibly my favorite period of his. He was such a wonderful bastard.

But since he was mainly a manager for HHH & Evolution from late 2002 to mid 2005, they didn't play that original WCW theme without it very much. Once Flair was back as an active wrestler, it wasn't long before they changed it up a bit (so as to put their own spin on it & thus become a theme they could use easily - see Bryan's theme, which was a classic cut right out of Wagner's Ride of the Valkyries that they changed a while later into something they could in essence claim as their own)

The music itself is public domain. WWE could have commisioned their own version be recorded. I believe this is what they eventually did in the 2000s.

I always loved Flair's WWF theme. I always hear Mike McGuirk announcing "Ric...Flaaaaaaaaaair" over it.
