Rob Feinstein of RF Video (formerly of ECW and ROH) has stated on Twitter that Axl Rotten has died. Axl Rotten is probably best known for his years in ECW. He teamed (and feuded) with his kayfabe brother Ian Rotten as the Bad Breed, as well as with Balls Mahoney as the Chair Swinging Freaks. He had been suffering from many injuries from his years in wrestling. A crowdfunding site had been set-up to assist him with medical costs. Mike Johnson from PWInsider:

Just saw Meanie and Nova post this on Facebook. Sad as it isn't a major surprise. Never a huge name but was all over ECW for a good chunk of time. RIP.

RIP.
Really, really sad. So young, too.
I still wonder why WWE pulled the plug on signing him and Balls when it looked like they were going to rebuild the tag division in 2003. Axl and Balls were regularly winning dark matches and even were given their own Titantron and music. Then it never hit TV or, I believe, even a full-time contract.

He was in very, very bad shape. Wheelchair-bound for a while, if he wasn't still.

44.
44 years old. That's just scary. Seeing wrestlers die as young as him is so depressing, especially to someone who plans on wrestling in the future. Never seen him wrestle, but, rest in peace.

Sad news, but he was in very very very bad shape physically and had been for some time.

So sad but sadly not a huge surprise. He did unimaginable harm to his body through his career. Seeing a guy go so young makes me glad that hardcore wrestling has more or less gone the way of the dodo in 2016.

Teenage me loved The Hardcore Chair Swinging Freaks. Dude was really underrated as wrestler too, he wasn't just all hardcore stuff. Way too young to go. RIP.

It sucks to hear about his death and at such a young age too. R.I.P.

Axl was a good boy. He was bright for a wrestler sized man. He loved and got the business. He was a sweetheart.
He really bit down on the whole partying thing though. But can you blame him? He came up in the wild West of this thing we love. Back then it was probably considered bad form and a snub to not take your coke rail directly off of the stripper's ass.

His WCW run (which definitely did have some TV appearances) happened after his Global run, despite the word "prior" in there.
Those two were how I was introduced to him on my screen and I really dug him at the time, thought he had a bit of a Nasty Boy vibe to him.
