Indeed. WWE definitely deserve praise for how they handled Bryan's health since he went on the shelf for the final time. Had it been a certain other company, I dread to think what kind of condition he'd be in by now. He'd be a black belt in American Strong Style.

AFAIC, he retired on top, he held every title in the WWE (his wife held the one he couldn't win), was the top face even against the top faces, and had the best WM moment in years maybe decades.

I don't think people truly understand how over he was. I put him on Hogan, rock, Austin levels. In think wwe deserves some credit for looking out for his health. They get a lot of flak but in this they did the absolute best think they could have. Not for them but the health of a performer that could have made them more money than anyone on the roster in nearly 15 years. No offense I know emotions are running high.... But this is not true.

For a short moment, he was getting the kind of pops those guys got. On a long term scale, though, you are right.

Just because it's related to D-Bry, I wanted to re-post one of the best comedy bits I've seen them do in ages. Especially appropriate since we had the Doc Shelby tweet above. www.youtube.com/watch?v=MsSkEWHVSug

I knew that those recent tests would've shown something serious enough to cause Bryan to make his decision to retire, but I didn't expect that.

Trying to accept this over the past couple of days has been hard. It has been rare for me to have found a performer as exciting as Daniel Bryan is. It started out as interest when he came to WWE in 2009 due to the excitement that filled these boards back in the days of the 'Crap. I watched the very first NXT episode when he wrestled the World Champion Chris Jericho in an amazing back and forth match. That match made me a fan of his, particualry when the suicide dive spot and the heel hook were used. I thought to myself "this is a guy that may be small, but he could raise some eyebrows in a split second with the moves he could do."
The months that followed were pretty stressful watching Daniel Bryan. He didn't win any matches on NXT, they took him off the show, they made his first feud be with Michael Cole of all people, and then he was fired for probably the most asinie reason ever. However, it was his firing that made the people here on this board and across the Internet a spark for his career that soon became an inferno once the "Yes!" Chant took off.
He came back, we rejoiced. He won his first title, we were excited. Despite this, I knew he was still missing something. It is a hard truth to accept but a wrestler cannot win the WWE Universe based on wrestling ability alone. Throughout 2011, I think Bryan was trying his damn hardest to get the crowd. It took him over a year but he eventually did it.
The RAW after WM 28 is by far one of my favorite episodes. Things looked good for the future not only because of Brock Lesnar's return, but due to the nightlong chants of "Yes!". Hell, Bryan's dark match that night is the most viewed one on YouTube due to the reception of the crowd. That night was the night Daniel Bryan became more than my favorite wrestler. He became my sole focus on anything WWE. Except Lesnar and Punk, nothing else interested me.
A year later during the Team Hell No days, I went to my very first WWE show. It was a Smackdown taping in Raleigh. I was excited to see Daniel Bryan, Jericho, the Shield and others. This event was interesting because it was one of those tapings were only hard camera was filled because the arena was half full. Once Bryan's theme played, he made the half filled arena sound like a sold out stadium. I remember beginning a "Daniel Bryan" chant that soon filled that arena. To see him in the ring in that match with Dean Ambrose was nothing short of amazing. He is a true artist of his craft from the timing of his moves to the intentionally using a moveset that utilized his "Yes" chant. That is what made his performance in the ring stand out from anybody else.
A year later, I went to a house show in Raleigh a couple of weeks before Wrestlemania 30. By then, it was obviously apparent how over he was. I sat in front of a bunch 5 year olds. All throughout the show, they were chanting "Yes!" nonstop. I should of been annoyed, but when Bryan came out I couldn't help but join those five year olds screaming "Yes!" at the top of my lungs. It would be weeks later that Bryan's climb to the top came full circle.
I watched Wrestlemania 30 the day after it happened. It was an amazing sight to see 70,000 people go ham for one person. He made it. Despite the lack of hope I displayed on these boards, my fears were ceased as Daniel Bryan walked out of the Superdome with confetti and pyro smoke filling the Dome. These six years have been an amazing ride to watch someone rise to the top. To see it end so suddenly is a great injustice, but understanding in the long run. As I watched Bryan's retirement speech, it occured to me that despite all the gold he held in his WWE run, one title that he would forever hold would be this: "the People's Champion". It's because of the fans on this board and that have filled arenas that Daniel Bryan became a household name. It's because of the fans that Daniel Bryan got something that a 5'8" person can only dream of getting in the WWE. It's because of the fans that watching Daniel Bryan was something that was truly exciting to experience because of their love for him, that is a rare sight in this business. For all the excitement, sore throats, experiences, complaints on this board, smiles, times with friends, and a reason to be a fan of this crazy circus we know as the WWE, thank you Daniel Bryan.

10 concussions... possibly more, and seizures afterwards. Good lord. As somebody who plans to wrestle in the future it's a scary thought. I've had 2 concussions before (got one playing rugby and the other taking my first bump) and they were both horrible. I couldn't stop vomiting after I got them.
I'm just super happy that Bryan is out of the ring, home, and safe, before anything worse happened.

I've never gotten one myself, but I remember in high school when someone in a class of mine got one during the day and in class while waiting for some help he was just sitting there completely lethargic barely able to talk and wearing a thousand yard stare. Not a very comforting sight. Though... I might be confusing what exactly I'm thinking of exactly with the time he had a bad reaction to giving blood. Saw both with the same guy and incidents weren't that dissimilar.

A Tokyo sport interview had just been released with Nakamura stating one if the biggest reasons he signed with WWE was Daniel Bryan.
Also the question that needs to be asked after all this has come out about Bryan. What the f*** does Kurt think he is doing by continuing to wrestle? (especially in the last couple of years). If you type Kurt Angle Concussion you get pages and pages of reports of one's he had over the years, even early in his WWE run.

Currently making a WWE career retrospective on Bryan. It's certainly a labour of love, after about 2 hours work i've only got half a minute! Anyway i'm trying to cover as much of his WWE career as I can and it's nice to kind of live through it again. For anyone interested, this is what i've got so far: www.youtube.com/watch?v=h_1UURMUle8

Both Bryan and Kane hit it out of the park and what has to be considered a rarity on par with seeing a UFO and Bigfoot, the writing was terrific.

Both of them (Kane big time) have given everything to whatever shit gimmick they get, and somehow made it work for them. You had the "opposite styles" tag team which always does well, and then you had the fact that both of them were able to do the deadpan humor thing.
