My 3 favorite wrestlers, over the past decade, were Samoa Joe, CM Punk, and Brian Danielson. I have high hopes, for Joe, still. But after tonight, I am leaving the Punk hype train. Brian just went out in the classiest way, ever, and made me realize how much of a brat, Punk is.

They left under completely different circumstances. Bryan went out due to being unable to do it any more on a high. Punk left because he felt like he'd been wronged by the company, treated like livestock, and not been given the money he felt he was worth. It's not fair to compare the two.

Not everything has to be about CM Punk.

I'm not a Punk fan, but they're two different people with two different personalities. I think both were very good workers, just Danielson was much more likable, and it came across.

You honestly think if this most recent test hadn't come back and said "yeah, your brain is kinda really f***ed up from all the concussions and such" that Bryan would have been out there tonight to retire?
Go back to being a Punk fan...'cause to compare the two exits is folly (at a minimum.)

CM Punk was cool but Phil Brooks sure is a real dillhole. Bryan's just a nice guy, on and off-screen. That's why I'm far more a Bryan fan than a Punk fan.

I really wish CM Punk makes peace with WWE. Dammit, I think he is wrestling for life and genuinely loved it (even with his scathing shoot interviews after he left), but was too burnt out from the injuries, disappointments, and issues with the system. He left on a very sour note, and I feel he could be remembered much better by WWE. At the very least, he has a future on commentary, but I think he could put over a new star in a big match to officially end his career.

What's up with the anti-Punk circlejerk on here lately? I bet if a story was out that he saved a puppy from drowning, people would claim he did it cause he has a giant ego.

Probably because there was more news of him being a petulant manchild literally like two days ago. It's not coming out of nowhere.

"He probably threw that puppy in there himself for the attention!" It's one thing to be an anti-social atheist straight-edge jerk against a big soulless corporation like WWE, it's another when it's magazine writer or fans. Just my opinion. If you want to talk about the differences between Bryan and Punk, I wouldn't focus on their leaving the company, but how they handled themselves when the booking went against them, how they hold onto slights against them, and just their demeanor. From afar, and for alot of reasons, CM Punk seemed like a guy who was great at what he did but didn't love what he did, and some people hold that against him.

I mean, yeah, guy seems to have his asshole-ish traits, I'm really not a fan, and personally I would have fired him the second he hit a fan, but doesn't really change that there are people who just tear into every little thing the guy does.

Absolutely, but there is also a group that will defend him to the death. I've never seen the "he must have had a bad day" excuse more and more for one guy. Like most message board "arguments", most people are right in the middle on him, and only move one way or another based on reaction to other extreme views.

I will say though that I don't "hate" any wrestler on a personal level. And CM Punk gets a lifetime pass on his dickheadishness from me for the time he wanted to kick Chris Brown's ass.
That's a celebrity worthy of scorn, not a dude who just acts like an asshole a lot of the time.

I don't see what one has to do with the other really. They left different ways sure, but in fairness to Punk, what was he supposed to do; just keep going to work and doing something he didn't love anymore?

You might as well hate Justin Gabriel too then. To be fair, you probably should hate someone who calls himself the Darewolf.
