You might as well hate Justin Gabriel too then. That would require remembering Justin Gabriel existed. Funny, we met him on Saturday, and he was pretty cool, despite the nature of his departure (and despite some of the places he worked for since...)

Phil Brooks made me hate CM Punk, but to each their own. Now I hope CM Punk returns to WWE, even if it's just a legends deal. That way we get to see CM Punk vs Phil Brooks in a future video game.

That damn brat with his severe staph infection. Yeah, okay. That damn brat who was giving Z Paks that were making him ill and not helping BTW.

Some folks need to begin realizing that none of us are owed anything by even our most cherished and beloved celebrities.
Also, I'm starting to think CM Punk killed some of your dogs.

Alright, I'm making a judgment call and decided this thread is now going to instead be about the Scatman John

Punk left because he was injured and unhappy, and if half of what he said was factual (untreated staph infection, broken promises, fired on wedding day, etc), then he was completely justified in the way he left. He has moved on to other things. Why hate him for that? Because he didn't announce his retirement in a tear jerking in-ring promo that the WWE benefits from the most?

Omg, this is the biggest thread I've ever had, and I was blackout drunk when I wrote it. Even I don't totally get the point I was trying to make, lol.

Some folks need to begin realizing that none of us are owed anything by even our most cherished and beloved celebrities. Unrelated to this particular thread, this is something people seem to continually forget. People seem to think entertainers "owe" their fame and success to their fans or that they should be "grateful enough to.....(insert any number of preposterous stuff here)." Just because you bought someone's album, t-shirt, cheered for them at a show, etc etc, doesn't mean they should stop on the street and indulge you in your idol worship or anything in that realm. Fans paid to see entertainment - they got it. Transaction done. Or if there's some kind of meet&greet/appropriate setting for interactions, beyond that, its just people acting out their unhealthy parasocial relationships. No one is owed anything beyond the 2 hours of entertainment/t-shirt/album/etc they paid for.

Like, are people just now realizing that Punk is an asshole? I thought that was kind of a given for a while now, and I say that as a fan of the guy. I know he had that interview last week that went badly, but it's not that I'm really shocked that something like that happened. Is it that he gets to immediately debut in UFC based solely on name recognition? Because I really haven't seen anything that seems out of the norm for Punk.

I still can't hate CM Punk. Especially since I just bought his latest shirt on prowrestlingtees.com, the Summer of Punk 2-disc set from ROH, and plan on buying his UFC jersey as soon as I figure out what size I need to buy it in.
I'll always support Punk.

Punk my boy. I relate to him a lot.
But that includes the bad stuff. The SAME thought ran through my mind watching Danielsons speech last night. But as some have said..different circumstances. Different personalities.
As someone who's very much like Punk...I strive to be like Bryan Danielson.
Also. Yeah. I don't get the hate for Punk. Reminds me of the hate Rock gets. Regardless if y'all know it or not, I think on most cases (not all) it's basically "He left me" issues.

The thing I realized, is compared to Bryan Danielson, most other wrestlers look like shit. Guy is modest, worked his ass off, isn't a mark for himself, is charitable and generous, and from all accounts is really good with his fans.
I think you can compare them because they are really the first recent WWE guys who were born and bred on the Indies to get really over(Cena, Orton, Lesnar, Rock were their guys, Austin was a big company guy). They broke the mold in terms of top guys in the WWE.

And as much as CM Punk's top babyface run was torpedoed, I don't think he had the sustainability of Daniel Bryan in that role, which I why in my mind, I give the advantage to DB. Punk's weakness, as a babyface to me, was as great as he was as being this anti-authority figure, he didn't bring the fans along for the ride like Bryan did. Bryan had that great babyface in peril thing he was able to use. Punk was able to speak to a part of the audience, but Bryan's ability to speak to everyone really puts him over the top.

Not everything has to be about CM Punk. Yeah. Some things have to be about Pentagon Jr., instead.

Yeah, Punk was paid to wrestle, not have some jerks stake out his house so they can get him to sign their Punk shirt when he's taking out the trash at 7:30

I don't "hate" cm-punk. He was good, however lacks that special something that would make him a Bryan, John Cena, The Rock, or any of those other special people.
I find it annoying that his shtick is that he walked away because WWE didn't see him as good as those other people, instead of trying to stick it out to better him self.
