I see why wrestling fans get upset when detractors claim no one actually gets hurt. That shit breaks you down overtime, especially under the WWE schedule.
It was worth a try, I guess.

Punk: *on the phone* Dana, it's Punk. I've backed out....
Dana: Your back's out? You should get surgery.
Punk: No, I've backed out! Of the fight!
Dana: You'll be fine in 4-6 weeks.

Poor form, Punk. MMA Jarrett would have made the fight and then tapped out the doctor suggesting he get surgery on the same night.

The CM Punk in UFC saga is quickly becoming the Duke Nukem Forever of MMA. By the time he's ready to fight, even his most diehard fans and detractors would long stopped giving a damn. They could adapt Duke Nukem Forever into a film with the cast and crew of Sin City 2 and Chinese Democracy as the soundtrack and I bet people would still give more of a damn than CM Punk: MMA fighter.

Yeah, it was just a few days ago he was facing off with Gall in a photo op. And now he's having neck surgery. This shit ain't happening. No, it's back surgery. Neck surgery is the next time he wants to postpone the fight. I still like Punk and want him to succeed to some degree in MMA (as unlikely as it is). I know he'd never be a champ, but just losing one fight in the UFC is a victory in a way. Anyway, yeah this is pretty blatant here. I'm thinking the fight either gets moved to late 2016 or the plug on the Punk experiment finally gets pulled. For as much as UFC gets criticized for not having fights or delaying them even they have to know how ridiculous this look. Just look at the facts. If Punk's fight doesn't get rescheduled for later in 2016 then it will be three years between the initial announcement and the fight. Legit guys with good careers have started training and won their first fights with less time than that.

This fight is not happening. He trained with the Devils way before Gall fought I'm the UFC. There's no way it just became too much of an inconvenience. I'm a big Punk fan, but I don't believe for a second this fight actually happens.

You know, if Punk had been dealing with these issues and he wasn't wrestling anymore, you'd think he would've decided to start dealing with those nagging issues before he ventured out into other endeavors.
I still think the Punk match is going to happen, but it won't make Dana White any money at all. He's already lost two potential attractions for his UFC 200 event in Punk and Ronda Rousey.

Let me get this straight: CM Punk has been having a bad back for a while and he decides to get surgery just before the fight camp for his UFC debut after having almost 2 years to get that fixed. With Dana White you never know but, considering that he has bashed talent before for getting injured during training and keeping that away from him so they could fight, the least I expect of him is to be upset at Punk for pulling this off this soon to his own debut.

Punk in UFC is the new Lesnar in the NFL Maybe Punk in the NFL will be like Lesnar in UFC and he'll be the Super Bowl MVP in his debut year.

CM Punk after realizing he's nearly 40, taken a million bumps, been concussed multiple times, and injured nearly every part of his body during his wrestling career. I think its cool that he wants to test his mettle in MMA, and as a "celebrity" it only makes sense for him to do it in UFC but he should honestly have gotten any issues like this taken care of 100% before starting with any kind of MMA training. Dude was basically walking around a shambling corpse of a dude during his final days of WWE and didn't give him self the proper time to heal up before jumping back into this kinda stuff. I think he's got kind of a macho thing going, sort of like how he kept on the road in WWE rather than taking some time off.
