Michaels is good but I love "The Giants win the pennant!"
God bless you Russ Hodges.

I'm biased. But Liverpool against Olympiakos from the 2004/05 Champions League is probably my fave. Liverpool need to score another goal to advance to the knockout stages. Up steps Stevie G and unleashes a thunderbolt. Andy Gray (who I normally think is a prick) on commentary simply screams "YOU BEAUTY". So good, Sky use it in their ads for HDTV. See for yourself

"Here's the play at the plate....and he is....SAFE!!! BRAVES WIN, BRAVES WIN!" Nothing will ever beat the call as Sid Bream, bad knees and all, rounded third and just barley made it home before the throw, taking the Braves to the Series in '91. Which also led to my personal favorite baseball call, courtesy of the late, great Jack Buck. Game 6, bottom of the ninth, Kirby Puckett at the plate. "And we'll see you... tomorrow night!" Those were two different years. Puckett in '91, Bream in '92. Sorry, I'm a baseball geek.

EDIT: Just watched the clip its John Motson on play by play not Clive Tilsley

Al Michaels and his call for the 1980 U.S. Hockey team is head and shoulders above the other choices.

One of the best callers in sports is the now retired voice of Formula 1 GP Murray Walker.
And probably his best moment was in 1996 when Damon Hill won the Final Round of season to take out the championship:
"And Damon Hill comes through, and wins the Japanese Grand Prix... and I've got to stop, because I've got a lump in my throat..."
You know how hard it was to get Murray to be quite for minute. A truly great moment.

Also, I still love the "STONE COLD! STONE COLD! STONE COLD! IS THE WWF CHAMPION" or whatever when Austin beat Michaels at Mania

I'm not quite sure what the best is, but I have a pretty good feeling the worst ones have come from Joe Buck. If he was a quarter of an announcer his father was, he'd be one of the best on TV, but he's just a dink.
"THAT IS A DISGUSTING ACT BY RANDY MOSS! AND IT'S UNFORTUNATE THAT WE HAD IT ON OUR AIR LIVE! THAT IS DISGUSTING!"
And how the hell does one screw up the call for the Red Sox winning the world series? "Red Sox fans have longed to hear it"? What the hell is that? No wonder everytime they replay the footage, they use Castiglione's simple, classy "Swing and ground ball, stabbed by Foulke, he has it, he underhands to first, and the Boston Red Sox are the World Champions! For the first time in 86 years the Red Sox have won baseball's world championship, can you believe it!"
God, I hate Joe Buck.

The lesson is: Joe Buck is a fairy, who is living off his old man's name. Of course he screwed up the Red Sox winning the world series call.....he HATES them and has a f***ing hard on for the Yanks/Cardinals. Luckily for me, I turned the TV sound off and the radio sound up for the final out when it happened.

"Here's the pitch by Downing. Swinging...there's a drive into left center field. It's gonna be...outta here! It's gone! It's 715! There's a new home run chamion of all time, and it's Henry Aaron!"

goasu.com/media/audio/#Very last one called "The Play" Basically, Furman scored with seven seconds left to go up 15-14, and went for two, and we (App State) intercepted it and ran it back 100 yards to go up and win 16-15. And of course, it was a two pointer, not a touchdown, and it was the Cal play from the early 80's not the USC play from the last 80's as the annoucer loses his mind there.
