I just was thinking about it and had to make a thread about a finish I've always been annoyed at.
I f***ing HATE the "tap out while the ref is counting 3 on your opponent" finish. The guy always starts tapping at two. I don't give a shit how painful it is. There is not ONE person on the planet who would tap out with less than a second to go. This is a stupid f***ing finish. Stop doing it.

Completely disagree. Given the right situation I absolutely love that as a finish and I think it's something wrestling companies don't do often enough.

It works if the guy that taps doesn't even realize the pin is happening.
If you're in a submission that you have no clear escape from, you go into survival mode. You tap before you risk getting seriously hurt, it's instinctual. It's not like you have time to weigh your options and think about it.

How many times have they had Undertaker do this finish? When I read it I think of it as the Undertaker finish.

It's not like you have time to weigh your options and think about it. the thing about real submissions is that they don't simply tap because of pain, they tap because they don't want to break something. Which might explain why Cena never taps,he would just regenerate the body in 30 seconds.

This finish I think works best in terms of a triple threat match. Let's say a guy and his heated rival are in a triple threat with a third party. Third party has one guy in a submission and the rival pins the guy simultaneously. The guy knows he is beaten so he taps out at two rather than let his rival win the title. That is actually fun storytelling as a final act of defiance

Has this happened even once? Let alone enough times to be annoyed by it?

It's funny in the case of mega dudes who usually never tap unless it's been 30 seconds and the 5th time the hold has been applied. It's like they suddenly remember, "OH RIGHT! PAIN HURTS!"

Has this happened even once? Let alone enough times to be annoyed by it? Only time I can remember it was during one of the Bryan/Punk title matches in 2012.

Has this happened even once? Let alone enough times to be annoyed by it? Undertaker/Kurt Angle had it once with a Triangle Hold.

There are plenty of fights in MMA that have ended by submission with only seconds to go in a round.

It's more realistic than submissions that last 40 seconds while someone is crawling to the ropes

I remember the Smackdown one in 2002 that led to the Triple Threat match with the Rock at Vengeance. Did it also happen at No Way Out 2006?

There are plenty of fights in MMA that have ended by submission with only seconds to go in a round. Hell, Miesha Tate just won the bantamweight title from Holly Holm last week by choking her out with 40 seconds left in the entire fight. Holly woulda retained by decision otherwise.

Has this happened even once? Let alone enough times to be annoyed by it? Kurt Angle and Undertaker on Smackdown just before the Vengeance 2002 match. Edge and Benoit to set up the 2005 New Years Revolution Elimination Chamber. Undertaker and Brock last year. That's three.
