The belt absolutely needed to be changed but there was no real problem with the actual word "Divas" in general. The problem with "Divas" is that they're just straight up branding all of their women. I suppose it's similar to calling their male wrestlers "superstars," but then, why aren't the women "superstars" as well? You even hear "come meet your favorite superstars and divas!" in commercials. Which one sounds more important, really?

If true, I can absolutely see Sasha winning the triple threat match, then cutting a promo about introducing a new legacy of women's wrestling on Raw the next night, before she brings out the new Womens' Championship. Whether it's her or becky, i'll probably be fighting back tears or outright crying..just like I was with the bayley/sasha matches. I've thought for the longest time that the wwe/mcmahon was leaving a lot of money on the table and missing a huge opportunity by not pushing the women seriously..long before the likes of rhonda rousey come along....and all the while it was depressing to see how they were treated. In particular because there are a lot of talented women out there who treat the business seriously and work just as hard as the men. If I feel this strongly about it as a man, I can only imagine what it must feel like for the women and young girls out there. Take sasha for example, listening to the way she talks about it almost gives me chills because I know that no matter how strongly i feel about it must be a thousand times more intense and special to her. Same goes for bayley, becky, etc and countless other young girls who have the same dream as they did. I really hope they give these women a lot of time to prove just how great they can be..and years down the line we will all look back at it and the new belt as we do with the other iconic moments and important milestone matches in wwe history.

The one thing I'm getting from all this, above all else, is that the triple threat has to be Takeover-level good to usher in a new era.
At least that's what I'm hoping.

and now they can gloss over how the majority of the division has been a divas' champ at one point or another and only start counting women's title runs now. though admittedly there have been enough new people coming in it might actually be under half the division are ex-champs for the first time in a long time. The women's division, weeding out the non-wrestlers and Brie since she's retiring (but will count Nikki since she's still a maybe), in WWE right now is Alicia, Becky, Cameron, Charlotte, Emma, Eva Marie, Lana, Naomi, Natalya, Nikki, Paige, Rosa, Sasha, Summer Rae, and Tamina. That's fifteen and of those Alicia, Charlotte, Natalya, Nikki, and Paige are the only ones who've had the belt.

Hey guys, I recently got back to watching WWE again after a 8 year hiatus. Anyways, I'd like to know why they decided to abandon the lineage for the original Women's Championship decided to continue off with the Diva's Championship? Same thing goes for the World Tag Titles. These championships had 55 and 40 years of history in them.. I get why they started the belts, because of the brand split) but I would've thought that if they reunified them, they would go with the one that holds the most history. Was there something going around in 2010? I feel like a reason they might be doing this because having a 4-time world champion sounds so much better if there arent that many 4-time world champions on the roster. It makes it seem more of an iconic feat to be one of the only few to do it. Also curious why WWE never acknowledged WCW and NWA's legacy of the Big Gold Belt when they rebranded it as the World Heavyweight Championship on Raw in 2002.. I mean you had Eric Bischoff handing HHH the belt and he told him he was the last to wear it (referring to when he defeated Jericho at WMX8), and that the title has been worn by many of the greatest champions in this industry. So obviously he was referring to the WCW belt, I mean why wouldn't he? He was the former head over there! 1.) I'm not sure about the Tag team lineage since you would think WWE would prefer the older lineage then the one with Benoit being the first champion. 2.) They probably want to started a new lineage for the World Heavyweight Championship then continue one with Vince Russo as a past champion and 8 different vacancy in one year. Plus they couldn't uses the nwa title history since that was a TNA Title at the time. 3.) As for the women championship. There multiple reason why. 1.) Moolah 2.) The tile was vacant twice for multiple year, don't need to make it a three time. 3.)past holders and the fact that title changes hands in evening grown match twice. My theory is that they well changed the name but keep the diva title history.

Please just cancel/negate the Ric Flair shenans for once...

Which one sounds more important, really? Yeah, and Superstar is more of a vague term. Diva carries connotations, and the fact that several women have gone out of their way to say they're the "anti-diva" to me says that they're not comfortable being defined by that term. It's also a marketing thing, but I think it stems from a real feeling of an AJ or Kaitlyn or Paige being like "diva? that doesn't describe me correctly".

{Spoiler}Dont worry, I am not going to spoil who actually wins the women's title at mania however I am here to confirm the rumor sites and do them one better. The official unveiling for the women's title will be done live at Wrestlemania 32 by a previous Women's champion we all hold in pretty high regard. I personally think they did a bang up job with it. Nothing too over the top but great design. Don't say I don't treat you guys well. - www.reddit.com/r/SquaredCircle/comments/4cvjk5/womens_title_spoiler/

I am all for this, I do think though they need to possibly place the title on Sasha - Who is totally over with the fans at the minute and it would really signal a change in direction for the division. Then we could possibly have Bayley dropping the NXT title at Dallas:Takeover and getting the call-up to the main roster in order to continue the awesome fued they had in NXT on RAW ETC....
They may get Lita to do the new championship unveiling as she will already be in attendance for Wrestlemania anyway!

Ric Flair has ruined Charlotte's run imo. I was a massive 4 Horsewomen fan. Now I'm not even looking forward to the match.
