Any examples of this?
I think about how well Sydal has done these past few years since getting released from WWE. Being a massive mark of his since his underrated initial indy run before signing with WWE it is great to see him reach main event marque level since returning to the indys. He has been on fire in promotions such as ROH, PWG and various other promotions around the world having dream matches and feuds with ACH/Will Ospreay/Ricochet etc.

Mark Jindrak became a legit superstar in Mexico as Marco Corleone after getting released by WWE.
Jay Lethal is one of the best workers today and it was after getting fired by TNA.

Steve Austin and Mick Foley from WCW. They became much bigger stars in WWF.
Also Chris Jericho.
Chris Candido from WWF to ECW.

Okada is another one that jumps out at me Okada doesn't count, he was on excursion. He was meant to be in TNA for a limited amount of time.

Samoa Joe leaving TNA is the best thing he's done for his career. Have a short ROH run to be reinvigorated and then get snapped up by NXT.

He might be a bit bigger, but he's been having the best matches of his career and doing it all over the place, too. 2013-now have easily been the best years of Chris Hero's career, if you ask me.

Lance Hoyt and DH Smith have both done pretty well since being released.

It depends on how important you think "has good matches" is important to a wrestlers career.

It depends on how important you think "has good matches" is important to a wrestlers career. Bingo. Want to have a MOTY candidate and then drive home with the $200 you made that night? Have fun. The key word in all this is "career." Going from mid-card nowhere in WWE to main-eventing in New Japan is one thing. That's a good career direction. Going from mid-card nowhere in WWE to main-eventing a promotion that can only get their shows posted on Youtube and can barely crack 400 in the crowd? That's not a good career direction, no matter how many stars Meltzer gives your matches. Are they happier? Sure, maybe, dunno. Less stress? Sure, maybe, dunno. A good career direction? No.

I will say Eddie Guerrero.
WWE firing him actually added a year or two onto his life, rekindled his passion for the business and, most importantly, when he came back he was higher on the card than before.

No. Yeah, sometimes people bounce back better off than they were, but for a lot of them, it's not great. Helps if they're smart with their money, but it's a difficult situation for a lot of people.

CJ Parker is doing alright in Japan although he asked for his release. Albert in Japan and ADR in Mexico boosted their careers too, to be released by WWE and make it in America is tougher the above mentioned EC3 is the best example but he started from such a low point when hired. TNA botched it in the end but Eijah Burke went from being bland to an entertaining character and potential breakout star after his release.
