Sorry to go off topic, but I wonder why Edge got booed that night? Summerslam 2004 was in Toronto and that's his home town. Funny enough, the writers actually listened to the fans and gave him a heel turn the very next night and solidified it by having him walk out on Benoit during a Tag Title match.

He'd been doing the same bland babyface act since 2001, and people were tired of it. I'm more surprised it took them so long. I was sick of his face run around 2002 and couldn't stand his Rob Zombie theme. As soon as he showed even the slightest hint of a heel turn in 2004 he was entertaining again. He struck gold with his "me me me" paranoid act. His only reprieve was the neck injury and being out for over a year, as people were already souring on him prior to that. I guarantee he would've been a heel no later than mid-2003.

It's easy to forgot with how he turned out but Chris Benoit was a fantastic wrestler and he always would do the smallest things that nobody does today that makes his matches so much better. Benoit was that dude and one of my personal faves as a kid.

I don't get it. At all. It's kind of a small horse, I mean what am I missing? Am I crazy?

The handshake at the end was touching. See, That handshake should have been the start to a slow Orton face turn. The next night, you have HHH call him on the handshake and ask what the deal was? Why didn't he sucker Benoit with an RKO instead? Then over the next few weeks, Orton wins matches without any shenanigans. You have HHH accuse him of going soft, THEN at Unforgiven, he defends clean against someone (Benoit rematch?) and Evolution turns on him postmatch to end the show.

This would of been much better if it played out that way. Sadly, that wasn't the case. I believe Randy admitted this was sort of too much too soon for him at that point in his career but with HHH ego trip being in full effect at that time there was no room for Randy to grow as a character and fit into his babyface role.
