That sounds pretty awesome.
*waits for shitstorm over why Miles doesn't get a live-action movie*
EDIT: Oh, didn't notice that this was being made by Sony. Considerably less optimistic now.

I dont know what to think about this.
Sony seems to want to have their cake and eat it, and frankly, I'm surprised they even own the rights to Miles considering he was created as an Ultimate creation separate to Spider-Man's usual 'crew.' I guess Sony got Marvel to sign one of those in perpatuity deals that include all new stuff created for a franchise.
Rather short sighted of Marvel that one.
Either way, if this is a random film set separately to the MCU, no one will care and it'll be a massive waste of time and effort like most animated stuff not coming out of Disney-Pixar.

oof. aside from Cloudy, Sony's animated releases have not been that great.
Hopefully they buck the trend with this one but...yeah. never know. They also apparently have a Manimal movie in the works.

This is actually a smart move on Sony's part. People have been saying they wanted Miles Morales to be used for a good while, now, and it gives people who don't really read comics (like me) more of an in to be introduced to this character I've heard so many good things about beyond wikipedia.

This is a much better idea for multiple reasons, anyway. For one, audiences are more than familiar with Spidey's origin by now. Another thing being, Miles has a decent amount of fan support. There's no reason to have multiple movies for Peter Parker when they can throw that audience a bone with Miles.

I've seen more bitching from Peter Parker fans online TBH. I'm in the camp where, since this is going to be animated, why not just do a straight up Spider-Verse movie so everyone can finally see their Spider-person on screen?

The first Hotel Transylvaia was unexpectedly good too. Maybe one of Adam Sandler's funniest roles in a while, with his Dracula it feels like he was actually trying (unlike in Pixels, where he just slept walked through it). I haven't liked anything else they did though, I heard good things about Arthur Christmas but I haven't caught it yet.

The weird thing is, I think I'm more excited for this than I am for Homecoming. I mean, the Spider-Man stuff in Civil War was easily my favorite parts of the movie, and single handedly sold me on the new version of Peter Parker, but I know almost nothing about the Miles Morales character, so I'm excited that I'll be able to get my first real exposure to a character that I've seen a lot of people clamoring for to be used in movies for a long time.
