Has this been confirmed? TMZ is still saying hospitalized. Several sources close to Kimbo are stating it to be true.

I don't follow MMA, so, I'm not familiar with him, but 42 is very young to die. I hope his passing was peaceful, and that he didn't suffer for long.

I always kind of felt bad for the guy and MMA folks seemingly gleeful to humiliate him at times, but he got to leave more of a mark than many. It was absolutely fun to rip on him and the weird drama that always seemed to surround him, but his whole story was bizarre. There's never really been another Kimbo Slice. For what it's worth, I don't even think there was much actual vitriol directed towards the guy. Casual fans liked him, and he had trainwreck appeal to the more hardcore fans.

Not really into MMA either. Was he the one that said 'I'm Done Gus' after a grueling win?

Very sad. RIP.
I don't think it's too early to start talking about Bellator and some of their practices. Kimbo really should not have had a new fight scheduled. They had to book him outside of the US in order to book him in another fight because of his suspension due to a drug test failure. I know some will think it is too early to start talking about this, but I think it's important. I don't say that so people will hound Bellator and cast blame. I say that so that we can bring about change, particularly when it involves fighters in their 40s and 50s. I don't think Bellator got nearly enough attention when Dada 5000 was severely critical condition following his fight. Not enough mainstream media questions how he could have been cleared to begin with. He came very close to dying.

Damn. I am stunned...
From what I've heard, he had a hard life and did his best to get by. I do remember the hype when he joined "The Ultimate Fighter", though, and knew a few people who swore he would tear up the rest of the contestants.
Rest in peace, sir.

Even though I've lived none of the life that Kimbo Slice had, it still absolutely terrified me that a man 3 years older than me just died of heart failure at age 42. RIP. We live in a time now when TMZ can be (accurately, I think?) seen as a source people turn to to confirm stuff like this. Because now that they've reported it, the back and forth I saw on Twitter for a while tonight with people wondering if he was dead or alive is completely gone.

I have to think steriods played a huge role in this. So I wouldn't worry too much. But man what a novelty he was. Seeing him on youtube what a scary dude. RIP sir.

I think more than a couple of questions are going to be asked of Bellator about this considering that he had recently tested positive for a banned substance and was still scheduled to fight next month.
The freak show aspect of Bellator is a really ugly one.

Kimbo was someone I heard a lot about through people watching his fight. I remember hearing he would debut on TUF and watching out of curiosity, and I was surprised. He was well spoken and seemed to be a different person than Kimbo Slice was supposed to be. Heck, I was rooting for him to win, and when he didn't I rooted for him to beat Houston Alexander.
I can only hope he did to suffer much, and that his family finds solace and peace through this. 42 is way too young to pass away.

I can't believe that after that Dada 5000 fight that he was the guy in that match who would pass away shortly after.
42 years old...man...that's so young. As much as we talk about the rise of UFC in the success of MMA in the mid-2000s, I think Kimbo's contributions shouldn't be left high and dry either. His fight at EliteXC against James Thompson in 2008 was the first MMA main event fight in primetime network television history.
And even though he looked like a bad, bad man; everyone throughout the sport has said nothing but positive things about him over the years.
What an insane sequence of events in the MMA community over the past three days.
R.I.P. Kimbo

But odd how this came after Ali's death (modern day fighting icon after an icon of the past)
