You have to keep in mind that as far as the drug testing goes, that's much more on the MLBPA saying "We've finally gotten tired of it, too. More serious consequences are fine with us now." I'm sure Selig wanted to get tougher there once Congress got on his ass about it, but he couldn't do anything without the MLBPA agreeing to play ball. There have been some unintended consequences for some of the rule changes that have been introduced, like creating new rules on safe/out during these things that require a LOT of entirely subjective human judgment on the part of the umps, and they have enough to worry about as the MLB already has as much an arcane rulebook as the NFL does, if not moreso. But yeah, Manfred is thus far an improvement over Selig, just that I don't think he's done things to be outright cheered for like Silver has. Though if he wants to do away with the absolutely silly "ASG winner = home field advantage in the World Series" stipulation that is absolutely cheer-worthy. I really hope he changes the ASG winner getting home field advantage. If he does that I don't care if he does absolutely nothing, he will be loved. Also, I hate the DH rule in the AL, either eliminate it or make it league wide. If he doesn't want to change the ASG winner getting home field, then he's got to either eliminate the fan vote and make it a panel of coaches and players that decide who's on the teams, or make it so the fan vote only counts for like 25%. You leave in the fan vote as the determiner, then you've got to go with best record gets home field.

I know vwey little about most commissioners. With Goodell I see him as someone who acts not out of what he thinks is right but what he thinks will make the majority of owners like him. He comes off like someone who is completely out of his depth and every move he makes is to ensure that he keeps the job for as long as possible.

The thing is that in most cases the Commissioner deserves it. The NFL for example Goodell is a lair, and all he really is a sock puppet to the owners of the NFL. He really has no control of the NFL and that's a problem. The owners of the teams should NOT have the control they do but clearly he takes all the hand outs and gives them whatever they want. If Goodell had a back bone he would run things. If the owners don't like it, tough. They can get out if that was a such a problem. The owners should not run the lead ever. The Owners job is to make the team they own successful by putting together the best team possible under the rules.
The owners in the NFL are the greediest people in sports, even though they have the most money, they still demand cities to fork over trucks load of money that should be going into schools and what not to build stadiums. I'm not even going to the whole St. Louis BS. Most of us already know that screwed up situation but lets look at Vegas. 750 Million dollars of Tax payers money to build that stadium there is what on the table. 750 is way to much money for a city to fork over. What it is said that the owners of a team can build a stadium on there own and will if they are at a place they want to be at.

Not sure why anybody would boo Silver. He's done nothing as of yet to deserve enmity.
Roger Goodell is evil, though. Boo the hell outta him.

Bettman deserved all the flack he gets. he did bring in a salary cap which the NHL absolutely needed, but he's also the same schmo that's fighting tooth and nail to keep teams in failing southern markets just out of spite. and don't even get me started on his fool's errand in Las Vegas.

Give Adam Silver a few more years, he will get booed too. The first few years Goodell was hailed as a champion since he would suspend players like PacMan Jones for having a lot of "off field incidents."

The money will come from an increase in hotel room taxes. I know that cost will trickle down to us,but I think it will be worth it. Prices on the Strip are exorbitant as it is.

I'll echo the sentiment that Goodell us a total f***ing puppet, and there's a reason Bettman can't go anywhere in Canada without a chorus of boos. Hell, Bettman might get shot the next time he goes anywhere near Quebec
