Well, this is how free agency looks with the new salary cap. Sam Presti is doing the right thing. He traded Ibaka for a strong package instead of paying him this type of money to stay beyond next season. The smart GM's will follow that strategy, because I can't imagine teams improving by paying non-stars that much money even with more money to spend. The problem is Presti is going to have to face this song and dance soon. He can only penny pinch for so long: Oladipo is on the last year of his contract, if he balls out, that's probably an $80 million contract. Adams is getting the max, so 100 million+. Durant and Westbrook, if they stay long term will get 30 million per year. Kanter is making $18 million Those 5 guys alone will probably count for about $120 million. Adams and Kanter are the easiest to pass on. Kanter has upside, but they absolutely don't need him. Adams is a nice all-around player, but if they keep Sabonis (albeit I'm high on him) Durant, Oladipo, and Westbrook then any 5 makes them a contender. Like GS has shown.

Pat Riley is really bold/arrogant enough to lowball Dwyane Wade. I shouldn't be surprised by that, but wow.

In other news, NFL Players are getting salty as f*** at all this paper NBA players are getting. D'Angelo Williams of the Steelers said that he has to google the players that are getting paid. I'm dead.

@jasonlieser: Bulls, Mavericks, Nuggets & Bucks all offering Wade multi-year deals with salaries at $20M+, per The Vertical. Heat's first offer was $10M.

I have no idea what these numbers mean in this new market, but I'm glad Charlotte kept Batum. He is very well rounded and had a very good season for us this year. I'm happy Al is gone, he is declining and just not the same guy. I'm sad to see Lin go since he played above my expectations but only has so many skills so hopefully we can use the rest of our money to fill these slots as our young players grow and grow.

Geez, if Wade bails to New York that would really be the 2012 Dream team.

It's funny that Noah ends up in NYC. He was a Knicks draft pick that isaiah Thomas traded away for some overpaid centre.

Nah man, you're living in the past (that is, a week ago). 4 years/72 million is what a mid-level player gets these days. Look at what the Lakers gave Timofey Mozgov!

@jasonlieser: Bulls, Mavericks, Nuggets & Bucks all offering Wade multi-year deals with salaries at $20M+, per The Vertical. Heat's first offer was $10M. As a Heat fan, I have to remind people that Pat Riley is the king of free agency. He gets who he wants, what he wants, and when he wants. He won't make a Jim Buss move and give Dwyane Wade the Kobe treatment, because Riley always wants the Heat to contend, as he should. Wade needs to understand he's not worth 20 million. I said back a month ago in one of my articles that Wade's worth around the 10-12 million range. If he wants anyone to come to Miami next offseason to dethrone the Cavaliers, he'll sign for that much. Honestly, Wade's out of his MIND... I'm just glad Pat Riley isn't going to cave to a "Kobe treatment" deal and put this franchise into a downward spiral. Pat Riley's been able to get some great, great players to Miami, but if he gives Wade a 2-3 year deal of $20 mil plus, we'll be like the Lakers and not even get visits from mediocre free agents.

Looks like Al Horford is signing with either the Wizards or Celtics sometime tonight.
