I actually thought the game was out tomorrow so wound up after downloading it just letting it sit untouched for hours before I got around to it. Left off at the second dungeon and... Yeah, it's a damn good remake, but I'm very glad I didn't personally spend $60 on it. It defintiely feels like if it had come out 4 years ago it would have been a 3DS remake priced around $40. It's something that was rumored for a long time before they formally announced it and the early rumors specifically said it was for the 3DS, so I'm guessing it shifted platforms in the middle of development. Honestly, I think it was always intended for the Switch, it started development in I think 2016, so by then, the Switch was done enough to start on it. I think they weren't exactly looking to push it to its breaking point or anything, but it'd have made more sense to go Switch to begin with.

I like it... and do enjoy the dungeon maker more than I expected.
Granted I didn't expect a full on Super Mario Maker level of customization... and it does seem to have some dumb rules like apparently not letting you choose which stair cases go together... but it's been enjoyable for what it is.

It looks like a blast, but I'm not the biggest fan of beat-'em-ups and Wayforward games are on sale all the time anyway, so I'll wait until I can get it for $20 or so. Although admittedly my interest is also a bit hurt by knowing (big spoilers)... {Spoiler}The twist that you're playing as the villains.

I'm saving Link's Awakening for down the road. Definitely going to pick it up but gonna save my time for it after I get done with my backlog.
As of right now, I'm neck deep into Yoshi's Island still.

Its a ton of fun and I had buddy who really wanted to play it so I got it.Its very well done with lots of special moves & weapons to unlock through the in-game stores plus a level up mechanic, side missions, hidden secrets, nods to old school games and the music is great.$30 is kinda steep but I don’t regret the purchase its a quality game but if you can wait definitely pick it up when its cheaper.

Yeah Link's Awakening is still great ... I am having more fun with the dungeon creator than I thought I would.
Mainly when Dampe gives you challenges to fit the dungeon over just the full free formed version but still.

Word on the street is that Link's Awakening is on pace to top Super Mario Maker 2's first week sales and therefore become Nintendo's best 2019 launch...at least until November.

That both surprises and doesn't surprise me. It's a great looking game and it's super fun... but... it's also like the second remake of a 20 year old game...

I'm very new to Switch, and so far have only purchased a few console-exclusive titles. When it comes to the multi-platform AAA games, how do they hold up against their PS4/XB1 counterparts?

Gotta say, the more I play Link's Awakening, the more I want Oracle and Minish Cap remakes in this style. Hell, do one for Link to the Past while you're at it.

My unrealistic dream is that they would not only remake Seasons/Ages, but actually do the third canceled Oracle game based around Nayru, and thus have three titles you could play in any order (which you could now easily link together given the internal memory of the Switch).

Beat Link's Awakening - was going to stop at the seventh dungeon but since the seventh dumps you right outside the eighth and there isn't really a final one I figured I might as well finish today.
First time actually beating it. I've made the attempt to get into the GBC version a few times but just never really was able to sink my teeth into it. This time I definitely did though and really enjoyed it. Makes me feel tempted to finally try and finish the Oracle games or Link to the Past.
... Yeah, I've always been much more of a 3D Zelda fan. Only 2D ones I've actually beaten are the first one, Link Between Worlds, and Minish Cap.
