Seems very likely the next Smash Bros. character will be both announced and released within the next couple of weeks - someone who has a good track record of leaking the dates of Directs is saying the cutoff for people getting promotional material in for the next one is on Friday, and the Dark Samus and Richter Amiibos aren't compatible with Ultimate yet and are out on the 17th.

Given the pattern of announcing the fighter and doing a character focused video a little bit after, they basically have say who fighter 5 is next month, especially if they want to meet the February 2020 deadline. A Nintendo Direct in general feels like a given soon given that outside Animal Crossing and Tokyo Mirage Sessions, they've announced basically nothing significant for 2020.

Also the first Direct this year was pretty soon after New Year’s Day so there is a precedence for this.

A Direct the second week in January and potentially another in late March/early April (with the Smash character video in the middle) seems reasonable, especially given the only game likely to get its own video presentation prior to E3 is Animal Crossing.

Picked up Civ VI for the Switch on sale today. I’m not a huge strategy gamer, but for only $20 I figured it would be a good place to give it a shot.

I also got the Civ VI as well for Christmas, the appeal of managing my own kingdom on the go sounded pretty nice. I will admit it's a little hard to get into at first (especially like someone like me who haven't touched and Civ games since the fourth one.) But once you figure out how to balance the resource gathering and expansion parts of the game it becomes pretty engrossing and like I mentioned before being able to kick back and do all that in hand held mode makes for a more relaxing experience.

Picked up FF7 while it's discounted. Game I've made multiple attempts at but really just never had the patience for - might be more inclined to give it a whirl handheld.

I got 8 and 9, as well as Mario + Rabbids. All games in the past I never finished. Did finish 7 before. Hell, I full finished it once, even down to Chocobo raising.

I've been trying to decide if I want to pick up Final Fantasy 7, 8 and 9 and on which system.
Played through 7 and 8 back on the PSX, but never played 9.
I almost never play handheld, and something about playing Final Fantasy 7 on a non-Sony console seems wrong.
