It's OK
Probably helps the main games sales to grow.

yeah Platforming on an iphone is terrible. I think that the reason why Nintendo is still successful with their handheld in the mobile gaming era. Some genres doesn't work with mobile gaming. Games like Pokémon, Fire Emblem, Animal Crossing and Mario Party could work well on mobile but not games like Mario Bros, Zelda or Metroid. Animal Crossing is a perfect fit but I've got my doubts about Fire Emblem adjusting to the format. Seems like either it'd need to be watered down to the point of not being Fire Emblem or be so balls-hard so as to encourage paying for advantages that it could just turn off the casuals who'd make up the bulk of its market.

Really it depends on what they do with it, as just a, "You pay for this and you get it," or, "Pay for individual maps / special units," thing I can see it doing great, but have my doubts about a free-to-play format.

It's a series where a great deal of them have been on handheld, and already have quick save as an option. So, people playing it on a commute, during break, etc, already is a thing.

The typical for me with Fire Emblem is I boot it up, grind supports aimlessly for a couple hours, do one story mission, then stop.

It's a series where a great deal of them have been on handheld, and already have quick save as an option. So, people playing it on a commute, during break, etc, already is a thing. Yeah, but that option is there for a couple of things really: not making you start from the beginning of the chapter if you notice the battery running out/need to go and can't continue playing and for those who don't like when things go south, to save and reload it immediately and see if the RNG gods benefit you that time. Not really a "oh, I have 5-10 minutes to spare, let's play something" as that's what moblie gaming's all about. I would put a quick FE session as 30 minutes of grinding on the newer ones (as those missions are over fairly quickly and are usually unsatisfying). A regular mission (say, after mission 5 or so of each game) usually takes upwards of 20 minutes if you're good enough and skip most of the dialog/animations. Also, I don't think that Fire Emblem is one of those games you can just play for a couple of minutes to enjoy. It's like saying that you'll play Final Fantasy VI for 10 minutes during the break of a football match instead of a quick game of, well, any sports game, or tetris, or almost any plaformer, etc.. There are a lot of other things that would be way more enjoyable to play in that time period than a slow paced, grid moving, rng crunching strategy game. But hey, that's my opinion. There may be people who enjoy playing like that, I just don't see the appeal.

The full game isn't free but there'll be a demo version I hear. That's gonna become the most popular demo in history.

So the Yokai Watch 2 demo came out. It's way better than the first one.
You get to play part of the story actually. It's not really spoilery, but if you just follow the prompts, it'll be a short demo. You can explore around the area, look for yokai, and talk to people before you head for the shed, so keep that in mind. There's also a playable version of Yokai Watch Blasters from the pause menu, which is kinda a stealth game where you grab as items and stuff without getting caught. If you get caught, you have the opportunity to fight the surveillance yokai before the boss guy finds you. It's really fun. I honestly wasn't expecting it to be in the demo.
I really think this demo gives you a better idea of what Yokai Watch is about. So definitely check it out.

Kind of occurring to me in the wake of Color Splash accidentally leaking that in general the Mario series is kind of all but dead to me right now. Like, short of either Galaxy 3 or an actual Paper Mario that's never happening again, I can't see much of anything ever making me want to buy another one of these games with how completely watered down, soulless, and repetitive they've made them. And a decent part of it is while I love Bowser and all the various recurring enemies I am so sick to death of constantly fighting them in the exact same way over and over and over and over that I hope and pray for them to be left out of every single game the series does anymore, even the ones I don't actually have any intention of getting.
Like used to be my favorite thing going by a mile but man, just interest is totally zapped in it. Really, I've kind of realized about the only things that would sell me on an NX at launch at this point in time, assuming we ever get told a single thing about it other than vague speeches about how amazing it is, are something with Smash Bros., Fire Emblem, DKC, Pokemon, Kid Icarus, Galaxy 3, or a traditional Paper Mario. Like that's literally it unless they just pull something completely insane out of nowhere.

Also, the Tokyo Game Show came & went with no NX news.
We are almost in October; this system releases in 5 months & we know absolutely nothing about it.
Nintendo better hit a grand slam once they debut this thing to justify all the secrecy.

Them controllers are tiny. TINY. I am bummed they are getting River City Ransom on their console though. And personally, I prefer the Twin Famicom.

Paper Mario seems to be getting generally favorable reviews from what I have seen.
Anyone picking it up?
