There's one condition for this. No KISS. We know about them enough already. This is more about brands really. Here's one example that had me rubbing my eyes in disbelief when I saw it. ....... It's like who is this supposed to appeal to? Even female bikers would more than likely be into beer, and hard liquor.

I don't know who greenlit it to blame for the selling out, but using the Lorax to sell goddamn SUVs was pretty horrible.

Not the biggest, but my favorite example is when Butthole Surfers frontman Gibby Haynes openly stated in interviews leading up to the release of an album, "We're trying to sell out with this album. We want to be on the radio, we want to make a lot of money. For our first single, we got Kid Rock to help with the writing."
They then released "The Shame of Life," which begins with "I love the girls and the money and the shame of life," but after one more apparently Kid Rock penned line, the typical Surfers insanity kicks in with, "There were girls in the front, there were girls in the back, there were girls petting squirrels, there were squirrels smoking crack."
They were just too damn crazy to sell out.

Hands down, Schulz's Peanuts. Just licensing MADNESS.

Garfield's a thousand times worse than Peanuts. Especially when Jim Davis basically admits he puts in the bare amount of effort to make the comic and wants to make the most money possible.

Hands down, Schulz's Peanuts. Just licensing MADNESS. In that vein, how about A Christmas Story? I loved the movie before it was cool, but when it became cool...licensing madness again. Plus on top of that, said licensing madness led to that D2V thing we shall not speak of.

Polar bears shilling for Coca Cola, when Coke's carbon footprint is destroying their habitat.

Basil Fawlty deserves a damn good thrashing for selling out to specsavers. Twelve episodes and done was part of the shows legacy but now that's been ruined worse than Tensai's gimmick. Damn that expensive divorce (John Cleese not Basil)!
On a similar vain I hate seeing Top Cat and The Flintstones on an advert for whatever bank they're shilling but they've always been heavily commercialised.

Really, no mention of Metallica? FAN, I'm disappointed in each and every one of you. Man, I remember when Load came out and everyone lost their minds. God forbid Metallica get haircuts and decide they didn't want want to become what Slayer and Megadeth eventually became. Then there was the Napster thing. Dear god, the Napster thing...

These people didn't sell out, they bought in!
But seriously, I think The Black Keys would license a song to a public execution if you paid them
