Especially in this day and age where voice actors are so heralded almost to a fault (how many times has a replacement voice actor been given ZERO chance because a studio didn't retain the original, regardless of any circumstances preventing that), it's worth it to splurge a little for them. At least don't get someone of questionable quality.

I think if someone said to my face that Kevin Conroy was overrated as Batman, I'd have to take stock of how many people were around me to see how many people it would take to hold me back from knocking that person's head off.

other than Kevin Conroy my favorite Batman is Diedrich Bader. Yeah he did a good job... and honestly I can't really picture Conroy doing Brave and the Bold so a change their was at least a good idea.

Conroy is called overrated in some circles? Were these people also exposed to huffin paint? That has to be something people say just to be contrary. The man created the iconic Batman voice that most people still hear in their heads when they read a Batman comic.

My problem with JL: War wasn't the voice acting. It was the attitude of Superman. It should not have taken long at all to figure out Batman was human, and yet he went fairly all out trying to maim him. That, and he was pretty cavalier about throwing Batman and Green Lantern THROUGH occupied buildings. I expect it of the version of Wonder Woman they used, but never of Superman (also, I'm guessing the two of them knocked down a few buildings having celebratory sex, based on how they were portrayed in this movie).

They definitely tried a little too hard to give Superman an "edge" in War. Thankfully they dialed it back in Throne of Atlantis, which I thought was a very solid entry in the DCAU. Anyway, the worst Batman voice actor was the guy they had for Batman: Year One.

Gotta give a vote to Rino Romano for the worst.

A lot of these DC direct to video movies of late have been rather uninspired. This endless adaptation of DC stories got old kinda quick. Plus the New 52 vibe hasn't helped. Assault on Arkham (which seems like the glaring precursor to the Suicide Squad movie, even shoehorning Bats and Joker in) and JL vs. Titans (where this kid voicing Damian finally sounded good in the role) are the 2 spotlight movies for me. Hearing Peter Weller as Batman in the Dark Knight 2-parter was neat, though the movies did nothing for me. Everything else.....avoidable. other than Kevin Conroy my favorite Batman is Diedrich Bader. Yeah he did a good job... and honestly I can't really picture Conroy doing Brave and the Bold so a change their was at least a good idea. IIRC, they brought Conroy in to voice the Phantom Stranger (and Hamill as Spectre, and Adam West & Julie Newmar as the Waynes) for the (really damn good) Chill of the Night episode, featuring B&tB Batman vs. Joe Chill, the man who killed his parents.

I meant specifically as Batman. But yes, Conroy was Phantom Stranged and also the Batman of Zur En Arrh, West was also Proto-bot.

Who's the guy who did the voice of Batman in The LEGO Movie? I thought he was the drizzling shits... though, granted, there's no way you can salvage being a character who talks about "dudes" all the time and not wanting to be around too many "dudes", which after seeing the movie for the first time recently made me lost some interest in the character as a whole.

Two more things:
1) No one mentioned Christian Bale?
2) I just remembered a Batman voice LESS characteristic of Batman than Olan Soule was. Take a listen...yes it's just one word, but that someone thought Batman talked like THAT...

Will Arnett. Which, I consider LEGO Batman to be a different character from Batman.

I just love how that episode had Batman take Batman back in time to meet Batman.

Gotta give a vote to Rino Romano for the worst. I'd still take him over Christian "growly" Bale Batman. And even then, Romano is far from the worst Batman voice.

War!Superman gets something of a pass in that his characterization is based off of the character of the New52!Superman, who started out very cocky and, like you said, cavalier, comfortable in the fact that he was basically invincible. Plus, with the exception of his heat vision and a slap, Superman seemed pretty content to let Batman tire himself out uselessly using his fists and toys. Green Lantern, though, was absolutely abysmal.
