Coming late to the party, I spent the last few weeks watching the BBC series Sherlock. And I absolutely love it. From the superficial updates, i.e. Watson now has a blog, to the fascinating borderline hostile relationship between Sherlock and Mycroft. They nailed all aspects of Sherlock Holmes lore.
These updated reimaginings, or whatever you want to call them, can go very very badly. I had the same reservations about the Downey Jr. movies, however, and I was thankfully proven wrong.
So who else watches Sherlock? As good of a job as they did with Moriarty, I think that Charles Augustus Magnuson has been the best antagonist so far.

Love me some Sherlock, though the third series was a bit bonkers

Easily my favourite adaptation of the Holmes stories. "A Scandal in Belgravia" was outstanding, with the final scene where {Spoiler}Sherlock saves Irene from being beheaded having me marking out, despite it not really making a whole lot of sense. The third season seems to get a lot of flack, but it's probably my favourite, if for no other reason that it showed plenty of Sherlock's 'human' side. The cold, machinelike Sherlock who sees all the details but cannot or will not acknowledge feelings is cool and all, but it's good to see him grow as a character.

It's incredibly hit and miss. What hits is fantastic (Andrew Scott as Moriarty is just sublime, and the framing of the Christmas story was very clever) whereas what sinks is utterly terrible ('Belgravia' managing to be more regressive in its treatment of Irene Adler than a story literally written in the 1800s).
I do wonder if there'll be an uptake in quality once Moffat ends his time on Doctor Who and can focus on the one show.

Moffat's "Last Vow" was the best thing about series 3, certainly the most grounded thing they did that year, I just wish they had ended it on Sherlock being flown out. "Did you Miss Me?" could have waited until the start of the Christmas special or the next series. Nothing's going to top the harshness of series two's finale, but Sherlock should always end on a downer, or an inescapable conclusion, and there was more a sense of triumph in the third series..Sherlock could literally commit bloody murder and get away with it just because a case needed solving.

While I didn't hate that episode (it was nowhere near my favorite.) I do have to agree since Adler was about the only person in the original works to get one over on Sherlock Holmes and gets away scot-free.

While it's no way near as good as the Jeremy Brett series (Although each series has different titles) I still like it

January 2017 most likely. Sherlock traditionally airs New Year's Day

It's not much of a new teaser, it's mostly still the one they released in July, however there is one or two new clips in there. That and they edited out Molly saying "For Christ's Sake"

From the moment I saw him I've been in love with Moriarty. and the dude is actually gay which makes me tilt my head and sigh...it's not often I get to crush on guys that are actually on the same team.
The show though is so well written, and acted. Props to the actor that plays Mycroft for helping create/write it. And so much eye candy that I'd watch it even if it were awful.
