Rollins was booked to his strengths. But he simply didn't have charisma to liven up his promos. Reigns at least has believable physical presence. Ambrose if booked carefully, could be a convincing bad ass. With Rollins there is just nothing. He's dreadful on the mic, and isn't convincing in the slightest. Booked to his strengths? You mean getting pinned every week while still being champion? Rollins' ability has never objectively been in question, otherwise Reigns would have to be considered a straight up wash in comparison. Having physical presence doesn't mean a whole lot when the guy doesn't have half the charisma to back it up. Market research showed that Reigns was the one out of The Shield that played best with the public. With Ambrose being 2nd. Rollins was bottom. Edge was booked to lose often as a Heel Main Eventer. Yet he got the job done. Cowardly heels can withstand losses, provided they have the charisma and mic skills to overcome them. Sadly, Rollins doesn't cut it. Sorry

Most people probably did what I did, it was one of the few moments in the night where I did something else and I could come back at any time to watch parts of the match. I came back for the finish and that's it.
Not sure why I was this disinterested.

Sorry Market research doesn't mean a whole lot when it doesn't result in big money. Especially when you consider from every available business metric, Reigns wasn't doing anything special to stand out from the crowd, well, except getting booed out of every arena despite supposedly being their biggest star. You also don't need to apologise to me, it's not like I've changed my stance or come to a huge epiphany. You don't like Rollins, that's fine.

Reigns was selling a lot of merchandise. The market research indicated that there was a market for him, and those sales somewhat supported that. The issue was that they stopped and started with his push. He's pretty much dead now. Being booed by smarks and hardcores doesn't always translate to failure. Ask John Cena.

Market research showed that Reigns was the one out of The Shield that played best with the public. As evidenced by the collapsing house show attendance, how fans far and wide hate his guts, how the general public has no f***ing idea who he is, and how after his conquering Mania performance the Raw the next night did nowhere remotely close to what the post-Mania Raw generally does. With a survey you'll get the results you want to get.

I'd say that makes up for the boos he got at TV tapings. In the end, Reigns was a flop. But he was a smaller flop than Rollins, Punk and Bryan, for various reasons.

That was the time to go all-out with him. The interest was there. But WWE spluttered after initial reactions from smarks, and got cold feet. He's never recovered really, even though he still shifted more merch than the rest of the roster (bar Cena)
