If you're casting Captain Marvel: Plus, just about every role dude has played has had that sorta earnest, goofy charm that the Big Red Cheese would need.

The trailer was not great and Affleck seems to have lost any gravitas he had playing Bruce in BvS. It just seems like Ben Affleck goes and bugs a bunch of people

If there's one thing I took away from the "Justice League" trailer, it's that I never fully grasped just how thin DC's roster of superheroes. Sure, they have the two biggest superheroes in pop culture lore in Batman and Superman but the drop-off after that is significant. Wonder Woman, The Flash, and Cyborg are such third-level superheroes that they'd be dwarfed by the likes of Hawkeye and Black Widow if there were ever a Marvel/DC crossover. Granted, I said much of the same about the cast of "Suicide Squad" and that movie looks like it's going to be solid, and "Justice League" is still 16 months out, so there's some time, but pairing Superman and Batman and rounding out the starting five with Wonder Woman, The Flash, and Cyborg is like the 1992-93 Chicago Bulls. Sure, you've got Michael Jordan and Scottie Pippen, but after that you're dealing with the likes of Horace Grant, John Paxson, and Will Perdue. I'd be willing to bet money that even with the success of The Avengers movies more people would still know who Wonder Woman and The Flash were than Black Widow and Hawkeye. I'll give you Cyborg, though.

Cyborg did appear both in the final season of Superfriends (when it was renamed "Super Powers Team: Galactic Guardians"), the Teen Titans animated series and the game "Injustice: Gods Among Us" Second level, maybe, but not third level.

Good point though, and there's also the fact that Cartoon Network has turned into the TTG Channel, so Cy's got that going for him, too.

I'm getting damn tired of this emphasis on "humor."
I'm fairly certain it is possible to enjoy a movie that isn't filled with jokes.

I'm getting damn tired of this emphasis on "humor." I'm fairly certain it is possible to enjoy a movie that isn't filled with jokes. It's not even about being 'funny', it's about being 'fun', which is something that was sorely lacking in the last two DC movies. They've been on their Dark & Gritty kick ever since The Dark Knight Trilogy and it hasn't won them many favors from audiences. Now, nobody's saying that their next three movies have to be joke after quip after sarcastic comment after joke like The Avengers was, but the fact that they're letting their characters more closely resemble the ones that they're supposed to be instead of trying to make everyone be Batman is a huge improvement overall.

ADAM WEST IS A SAINT!!!!!! (On a serious note, would it kill someone to make a superhero movie without cramming in as many damn one liners as possible? That's what killed Age of Ultron for me.)

Whether they could make a good DC movie that's serious without being edgelord grimdark bullshit is certainly plausible. But the crap they served earlier this year deserves it's harsh mockery.

MCU has pretty much put me off on their whole brand (partially) because of that kind of tone. BvS had its problems but wanting more jokes in BvS is like wanting more jokes in Saving Private Ryan. For me, its just not that kind of movie. Of the complaints about BvS I could lodge, "needing more levity" is not one of them. w/ JL it makes more sense for their to be more room for humor because you've basically got these disparate group of people all coming together to work as a group. That's a natural place for humor to arise.

Wonder Woman Movie- 2017
Captain Marvel Movie- 2019? Maybe? Unless we have another white boy to push the title back some more.
Justice League- A Hawaiian, a woman, a black man, a Jewish man (the Flash's actor, at least).
Avengers- Buncha white dudes and two chicks.
Aquaman- Changed from blonde-haired blue-eyed ubermensch to the aforementioned Hawaiian.
Marvel- Made the Ancient One a white woman and characterized Japanese people as a nation of Ninjas in Daredevil.
Suicide Squad- Two black dudes, a Hispanic man, a Japanese woman, two other women (one of whom is the major focus of the movie, it feels like), and a Canadian. Also, older black woman.
DC also has more diverse directors.

(pretty much all guaranteed to be int the next Avengers movie) turning Elektra from a Greek white woman to a Cambodian, Baron Mordo, Heimdall and Valkyrie black, and other changes to supporting characters I can't think of off the top of my head. IF you're going to compare then compare don't try to lie by omission making it seem more lopsided than it is.

Wonder Woman most certainly is not a Third tier level heroine. She is almost or just as known as Batman and Superman because she was one of the first big Female Super Heroes, and has been a full fledged feminist Icon since the 40's. and the Avengers themselves were pretty much Marvel's B list heroes under the X-men, Spidey, and even the Fantastic Four. (why do you think those were the ones that were licenced out after all.) Yeah around 2007, I would argue that The Hulk was a bigger name then Iron Man or Captain America. Like no actor has made a Super Hero become insanely popular as Robert Downey Jr. did with Iron Man. Like Marvel Studios made those B List Heroes become A Listers for essentially becoming the Pixar of Superhero Films.

characterized Japanese people as a nation of Ninjas in Daredevil. Funny how an order of mystical Japanese ninjas in the comics are portrayed as an order of mystical Japanese ninjas in the MCU adaptation, isn't it?

Yet Diana is the one getting the movie first, and they didn't push her movie back to make room for another movie about a white boy (Spider-Man Homecoming)

It just becomes problematic when they're literally the only Japanese people we see in the series and have no characterization beyond faceless mongrel hordes who are eventually killed by the White Man and his mighty Gunrection.
