I though it was an allusion to the WWE Universe as well.
But, it works as an ego-trip name too, so either is fine. I like it.

I'm pretty sure Foley said exactly that at the beginning of the show.

Sooooooo.... why did they change the name of the 'WWE World Heavyweight Championship" to the "WWE Championship" if the new Raw title wasn't going to be a 'World' TItle They seem to have now renamed it the WWE World Championship. Which sounds dumb, but whatever. Really WWE World Heavyweight Championship sounded dumb too. It was total overkill and way too much of a mouthful. Calling the top title by name shouldn't take up an entire segment.

It's like the sort of name a delusional heel would come up with for his own vanity belt. I can't see anyone trying to seriously sell the "WWE Universal Championship" as anything but silly. The Headbangers did that in 1999, carried around the foam toy belts and said they were Tag Team champions of the Universe.

"Cool...another title for me to win!" There's money in him as a prize fighter in WWE as he currently is. To bad he's going sit back in the festering waste known as TNA I'm good. I'd rather not see WWE continually bring in older stars to the point where newer ones are unable to break through no matter how hard they busr their ass (unless the office has a major chubby for them). TNA's a shithole, but I'd rather not see guys being bumped aside for TNA refugees and there possibly not even being a TNA for them to try to redeem themselves in.

This should be the center plate of the new title. With the logos of jurassic park, E.T, Minions, and fast and furious as side plates And they have to play the Universal jingle before every single title match

Well, NBC Universal are effectively bankrolling the company now and are their only US TV partner so it;s about time they got some recognition. The new title needs a peacock plate on one side and a picture of the earth on the other.

WWE are missing out if they don't play this in the hype video for the title match at SummerSlam.

WWE Universe=Universal championship.... Any pics yet? They didn't have the title on RAW and I haven't seen any news on the actual title belt.

I really don't think this is a good idea. It totally devalues the WHC. There are several crossover PPV' each year where the various belts can be traded off from one show to another, do we need to have separate titles?

Did you really think they were going to be treated as an equal brand? When Vince himself still oversold raw as the more important flagship show as the go home to the draft? Even though Smackdown was on network tv, and did great numbers comparable to Raw, put on years of quality shows when Raw's team fell flat for 15 years etc. Then Mynetwork Tv happened and every channel change thereafter happened, and Smackdown is damaged goods. Smackdown hasn't been an equal program since lesnar v Angle. Vince even said on record it hurt HHH's career to be drafted to the damn show.

You do realize he probably the best booked person in wrestling right now right? If one thing TNA is doing right is the fact nobody f*** with Lashley. He was never a star in his first run compared to what he could be now. Sorry to break it to you but not everyone is or will ever be on Lashley level. Those are the breaks in life. He bust his ass just as much as anyone out there.

The two shows should be as distinct of entities as possible, and locking them into sharing the main event scene is a huge limitation from the get-go on that. And the two PPVs a month thing would make being champion both extremely taxing having to put in PPV-quality matches constantly like that and be an utter nightmare to book around.
