And it's not even the Barclays Premier League anymore. It's just the Premier League, which granted everyone called it anyway but I always thought the word 'Barclays' rolled off the tongue really well.

I don't give a shit what they call each competition. It's the Prem, division two, division three, division four, FA Cup, Milk Cup, and Conference to me. Bollocks to "Champions League" and "Europa League". It's the European Cup and the UEFA Cup.
In terms of coolest names for a cup, nothing will ever beat the "Zenith Data Systems Cup"
Sounds like something from Blade Runner.

I'm really not sure what to make of Everton.
I like Koeman a lot and keeping Lukaku is a big statement of intent and Ashley Williams and Yannick Bolasie are quality additions.
They have a ton of money to spend both now and in January, so I think there's a real potential for them to push for Europe this season.
That said, there are so many good teams that it might not be possible this season.

I can guarantee in 20 years time some guys will be refusing to call the second flight The Elite League and longing for the days of the EFL Championship or whatever the f*** they've called it.

Eugh, when I went to my first Football match it was Division 1, 2, 3 and 4...no Premier League. Now I feel old

If you put a cross into the box, you always had a chance because nobody could ever deal with it. I see them just missing Europe. They will be much better going forward now that they don't have to just rely on Lukaku, but their defending is still very suspect.

Difference is Martinez is no longer in charge so their defending might improve under Koeman.

Real Madrid defeated Sevilla 3-2 last night to win the UEFA Super Cup after extra time. Quite enjoyable game, especially since players such as Ronaldo and Bale weren't playing. It was pretty much Sevilla's to win when they went 2-1 up with 20 minutes to go after scoring a penalty, but shoddy defending in stoppage time in both normal and extra time did them in to allow Real Madrid to pick up the Super Cup.

for about ten minutes last night i couldn't work out if Oldham were playing in what was the League Cup, or what was the old Johnstone's Paint Trophy, luckily not everyone who sits near us is as stupid as me and my friends.

Celtic crush Motherwell 5-0 in the last 16 of the Scottish League Cup thanks to braces from Tom Rogic and Moussa Dembele and a brilliant goal from Scott Sinclair.
The quarter-finals of the Scottish League Cup are as follows:
Greenock Morton v Dundee United Celtic v Alloa Athletic Rangers v Queen of the South Aberdeen v St Johnstone

It might be a little early to judge, but Villa are looking more likely to be a Portsmouth rather than a Burnley this season.

Sunderland have confirmed the signings of Paddy McNair, Donald Love, and Adnan Januzaj. Permanent deals for McNair and Love, a season-long loan for Januzaj.

Yeah he did, but there is a picture of him in Glasgow going to Rosshall for his medical. Not sure what's happening there. Must be to provide competition for Craig Gordon when he's fully fit.
