Rock did something amazing. I was never much of a Rock fan anyway, but he did the impossible, made me beg for Cena to kick his ass. So, of course, he won.

It's even crazier to think his last year when he was wrestling the entire time was 2000, the peak of his popularity. You know, you are right. I started thinking of when he was around in 2001 and 2002. In 2001, he was around until the night after Wrestlemania and he didn't come back until July or August of that year. He was there until Wrestlemania the following year and didn't come back until the summer and left again after Summerslam. He was only around from mid-January to late April in 2003 and then he only made one-shot appearances after that.

I can't blame him for getting out of the business with his body, money, and sanity intact while also getting into a more profitable and less risky business at such a young age. However, he was so bad when he came back that I rooted for Cena for the first time since I was a ten year old mark(that was like in 06.) The Rock and his stupid twitter trending and dumb shoehorned catchphrases(seriously, Kung pao bitch?) was lame. Plus, Cena no selling the Fruity Pebbles thing and actually embracing it and getting a sponsorship out of it was great.

It's weird just how stale The Rock felt in 2002. He had really only been that character for a little over 4 years at that point and yet it felt like he had been completely exhausted. I don't quite understand why even though I felt it when it was happening. For me it was even sooner, I think it was when he beat Angle for the title at No Way Out. I wanted something different, not Rock & Austin again. I think had he not disappeared for a few months the night after Wrestlemania, Rock would have become a 2001 "local man" to me. In fact, when he came back during the Invasion storyline, I was really hoping he would join the Alliance just to freshen his character up.

The only thing I thing Rock could do if he stayed would been there wouldn't been HHH's reign of terror. That's about it. Maybe help put over Orton or Batista but the list is a short one.
