Ah right ok, not as rare as I thought but still rare. I would kill for them to just add rare matches from dark matches at the TV tapings

Was about to sit and watch Lou Thesz, but 45 minutes Needs me to actualy dedicate time to it Not only that, but matches from that era move much slower and can be very repetitive. Although I watched it, not the biggest fan of his opponent, except for pulling out of one Thesz's moves against himself. Out of the Thesz matches I have seen, my favorites were his matches with Buddy Rogers. Thesz does pull out a great move for the finish though, don't want to spoil it though. Speaking of Buddy Rogers, wonder if they have his match with Ric Flair? Can't find it on YouTube.

Yeah I have seen them, but theres a ton of stuff that was taped at the 80's/90's 4 hour long TV tapings that they still have in the archives that would be awesome to see. Since they taped such a huge block of squashes they had to appease the crowds with big matches that were dark as well as try outs for people as well, must be an awesome collection there.
The Randy Savage vs Undertaker from July 1991 match is one high up on my list of must see's.

I tend to find even most of the 1980s stuff basically unwatchable, and a lot of the stuff on this list sounds like it's probably unwatchable for me personally.
Anyone else who struggles with pre-90s stuff managing to get through these matches and be entertained?

On twitter they saying it was a previously un-transferred Omni Live Event Reel. So they had this sitting there ever since they got the Georgia Library It happens. Over in the NYC area, WPIX's Christmas time "Yule Log" was lost for years after its discontinuation in 1989. The master film was found in a can marked for a Honeymooners episode. Ditto, the story of a search for tapes of Dark Shadows leading to the discovery of Peter Marshall-era Hollywood Squares episodes. As a sidenote, the WWE Archivist Twitter is GREAT!

The Randy Savage vs Undertaker from July 1991 match is one high up on my list of must see's. This, the Shawn Michaels-Goldust ladder match (not a fan cam but an actually shot one) and the lost 5 man Hell in a Cell are my yearned for trilogy.

They were working for ECW at the time. (Al Snow was another, but was the only one who got work from a tryout. Benoit & TPE signed with WCW not long after.) WCW didn't do tryout matches, they just hired guys based on their work. Edit: Although in Benoit's case, I assume being allowed to continue working in Japan was a big thing for him. The WWF wasn't gonna let him do that.

Sorry, I was thinking of something else...with DiBiase as his manager, I was wondering if the phrase "Everybody's Gotta Price" was part of the joke.

I can't tell if I think commentary would make the Backlund/Race match better or not. It's a unique experience. I just hope you like Headlock takeovers, because you're going to see a lot of them.

I liked the Dory Funk Jr. vs. Gene Kiniski match and interview.
The Andre strength thing was cheesy as heck, but fun. Wish they'd do oddball stuff like that with Braun. He'd get over more.
I tuned out when Ali fought Buddy Wolfe.
Came back with Brisco vs. Piper. I have that match of video, and it is still a classic. Roddy is still one of my Top 3 promo guys.
I'll watch the rest some other time.

Bret Hart as WWF Champion in ECW wrestling Terry Funk in Terry's "retirement match" is mind blowing. I had no idea this ever happened. Oh and Dennis Stamp is the referee!
