Thunderbolts being around are a danger to the Secret Empire...and they have Kobik which both Rogers and the Skull want. They're getting their asses handed to them guaranteed. Yeah, I'm not having the best feeling (especially having typed out that last post of mine above) about the Tbolts existence beyond #12...

Secret Empire is very confusing. Is it a situation wherein Cap uses Kobik to turn the world into a Hydra world?

From the DC solicits, Sandman Mystery Theatre and maybe House of Secrets jump out as the must-haves.

There's 3 major events that happen that open the door to Hydra taking over. Not sure if acquiring Kobik is one of them. Rogers doesn't need her though. Rogers and his Hydra masses plus Hydra Hulk plus Hydra Phoenix would seem like enough for a hostile takeover of the United States to me.

That's what I'm afraid of...that basically she'll rewrite Rogers' history again making this storyline null and void. It can't be that cut and paste.

This entire Hydra Cap arc is almost plagiarized from Superman: The Animated Series. In it, Darkseid along with Granny Goodness altered Superman's childhood so that he grew up loyal to Darkseid, and when the time was right he attacked Earth in an attempt to overthrow it and put in place his own governing rule. After everything was set right, we got fallout in Justice League, where many on Earth no longer trusted Superman, and that's exactly where I see things going for Steve Rogers.

I find it interesting that last night's SHIELD ended with something that brought to mind this whole HydraCap thing.

So looks like Steve Rogers has a couple more "heroes" under Hydra control from the looks of new promo art... {Spoiler}{Spoiler}{Spoiler}...as shadowy figures of the Hulk and Jean Grey/Phoenix are both shown with Hydra logos on them. That would explain why Rogers took Banner's body. Banner has the logo on his chest while Phoenix has it on her sash. {Spoiler}{Spoiler} That promo art (if it's what I saw) are variant covers of a line called Hydra Heroes... a Thor one was also released. It doesn't necessarily mean anything.
Like the Venom covers or the animal covers

Is it just me or does it seem like the in thing now with comic books is to crap on Superheroes? The CB hipsters crawl out of the woodwork saying that superheroes are ruining the industry and it needs more incredibly original things like zombies. Comic books are in a slump because the online war machine has finished chewing up newspapers and novels and has moved on to them in it's consumption of print media. Superheroes won't save them but their not at fault. Print is dying and will continue too there's nobody at fault but progress.

I don't think it's crapping on superheros specifically. In my opinion, the complaints seem to get at the idea that the majority of the medium shouldn't be superhero books (which, admittedly, is specific to the American scene). Marvel and DC make up 3/4 of the market, but a cape is a cape is a cape, even when the blue company has their version of cape books and the red company has their version of cape books. The differences between characters like the Flash and Ms. Marvel are superficial, but maybe we pretend that they aren't? American superheroes are these weird entities in popular culture, because they're always changing, but they always go back to the status quo. Superhero stories end up feeling incredibly static. Batman won't stay dead. Superman will rarely grow and change. And there are only so many stories you can tell with Spider-Man. And these tendencies are made worse because now the characters can't be limited to the comic page, but are also found on TV, in movies, in video games, in which the same kinds of characters will always get the chance to have TV shows, movies, and video games. And the stories that worked well in the books are retold in other media (and vice versa). Marvel and DC make up more than half of my collection, but there are times when I want to read something different. I wouldn't be surprised if struggling comic book store owners often think the same thing just to bolster their business.
