"CENA'S FREE!!!!!!!!!!!!" THERE'S NO THIGH SLAPPING HERE! As someone who likes Striker's commentary most of the time, that is one of the stupidest things I've heard a commentator ever say.

King of the Ring 93, Hogan has been downed by the fireball and Vince is hollering 'The crowd is in shock, there's children crying!'.
Over the top because it wasn't the 80s anymore, incorrect as a lot of the crowd were cheering and funny due to the camera cutting to a happy little girl waving at the camera as he said 'children crying!'.

Vince's commentary didn't ruin Kane's debut, but in my opinion it definitely hampered it by being overwrought and hammy. Pretty much everything he said after "That's gotta be Kane!" and JR would've been a better pick to make that call. And from the current product, Mauro makes at least one terrible call on a weekly basis. The one from this week that really stuck in my craw was the "Ziggler just turned the Spirit Squad into the Suicide Squad" or some such shit. The way Mauro feels the need to shoehorn pop culture references into his commentary(and this isn't exclusive to his wrestling commentary) is REALLY bad. Agreed, his time in both boxing and MMA were chock full of em. My favorite commentator, Michael Schiavello is king of over the top though. THE BIG KABOSH! AND IT'S GOOD NIGHT IRENE!!!

"The Voice" is more into word play than pop culture stuff, but I definitely get where you're coming from.

"FOR THE LOVE OF MANKIND" had to be the worst mainstream over the top call in history. It was so premeditated and unnatural to make sure to shoehorn a mankind reference in a desperate attempt to make it a "wrestlemania moment" call. Every one involved with making that call should be ashamed of themselves for compromising their lead announcer's credibility and shitting on that moment with that crap to get a soundbite.
