Toronto is mopping the floor with Boston on the lone Maple Leafs game on American TV this season.
Also... they have the CBC doing the game.

This Leafs team is just so different from recent seasons. A lot of youth prevalent. Yeah, they might bottom out again, but this team is exciting to watch.

oh man oh man, for the first time in 3 seasons the Avs won't start the season with a losing streak!

... Hey the NHL for a league that's so desperate for scoring wiping goals off the board for an inch offsides seems asinine. I friggin HATED them wiping a big Fabbri (maybe?) goal last postseason because his skate came up off the line. He was still on the line. The positioning is the same whether he has a foot down or not.

But it's still early, they could drop off. It happens every year. But they were kinda turning the corner last year at points to just being a faster, more skilled team (verus, whatever they were prior.) Reilly looked real good, Komarov is solid. Marner was due up this year regardless. Matthews jumps them maybe a full year in development. But it's still early again, we don't know how good they will be this year even with the boost of Matthews.

Really? f*** NBC is really shooting themselves in the ball this year. McDavid isn't even featured in one American National Televised game and Auston Matthews one of the most highly touted American prospects ever from Phoenix (THAT ISN'T A SON OF A NHL PLAYER) playing for the biggest hockey franchise in the world and only one national televised game? Does NBC and Bettman hate money and growth?

Cam Talbot - the choice for winners. Seriously though, that 3-2-goal was weaker than that one Toskala goal.

Deja Vu all over again. Oilers play well. Talbot shits the bed. I'm going to be so pissed off if we see Shitty Talbot made out of rubber in the first half of the season again only to close the season as Talbot made out of Stone

Does NBC and Bettman hate money and growth? NBC believes that hardcore fans will watch anything but the casual fans need extra coddling. That's why they prioritize 7 teams only. They are Chicago, Boston, Detroit, the Rangers, Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, & Washington. Sure, Los Angeles or Anaheim may sneak in, but eat shit if you are a Tampa Bay or a Colorado or (God forbid) a Columbus fan It makes no sense! Sure Canadian markets aren't popular due to not being able to use Nielsen ratings but this dude could reinvent the league, a legendary franchise, and perception that Sun Belt hockey was a horrible mistake... And he will be a complete unknown.

Guys getting dragged out of position, forwards flying the zone early, guys covering air, d still struggles to make an effective zone exit pass.

... Hey the NHL for a league that's so desperate for scoring wiping goals off the board for an inch offsides seems asinine. I have the same problem with the use of coach's challenges/replays in baseball for times when a person slides into a base, comes off it for a split second as they slide in, and are ruled out since the glove was still on them. It's just so nit picky, ruins the flow of a game, and doesn't really serve the basic purpose behind replay, which is to correct egregious calls. A split second off the base as a person does a natural pop up motion, or a skate being inches on/off the line...I get calling it by the letter of the law, but it's just so silly. Anyway, the good news from that game is that the Devils looked better than they did in game one against Florida, and they looked pretty damn good against a really good Tampa team; for a club that's about 1/3 different from last season, that gives me some positive vibes. Shame they couldn't at least get a point after leading 2-0 early on, but it's better than being up 2-0 and blowing it in the final ten minutes with lazy play. ...Though Lovejoy has been garbage so far, that has to be said. Two games, I know, but yeesh, uh-glee. Pumped to have home opener tickets for tonight in Newark, but it's always a tall order playing against the Ducks.

Netted his first two goals yesterday, and was a nice presence in the neutral zone, pestered the Ducks a bit and helped set up a couple breakaway chances.

Benched Talbot in fantasy league. In his place I put Neuvirth in the goal. Obviously Neuvirth then went on to being shitty while Talbot was solid.

Patrik Laine with a decent hattrick and is now at four goals in four games. Joked about breaking Selänne's rookie records "I can have six offgames and still break it".

I drafted Laine high in both leagues, one of which is a keeper. I really buy into his ability as a hockey player. Moreso in real life than in fantasy, but also a lot in fantasy. Him and Schiefle should be a terror for a long time.

My boys beat the 'Ning decisively. Which makes me happy, but watching my two favorite teams fight makes me a little sad too.
