I just saw Mickie wrestle last weekend for IPW:UK in Kent, where she won their Women's Title, and she's wrestling for SHIMMER the weekend before Takeover. So it's not as though she hasn't wrestled in years and was just sitting by the phone.
And she's still got her charm and the ability to work a crowd, so the match should be pretty engaging.

Mickie was and still is one of my favorite women wrestlers and she is also from my home state. Can't wait to see her match with Asuka in Toronto.

On one hand, I do like Mickie and am glad that she' coming back for this, at least. On the other hand, This is like when they brought back Too Cool to challenge Ascension for the NXT Tag Team Championships. They have no viable challengers, o they're forced to bring back someone that hasn't been in the company for a while.

They just lost Bayley, Nia, Alexa, Dana, Carmella, Emma over the last couple of months, so it's kind of a rebuild period. It'll be a fun special attraction match while Ember or others get built up, without just having Asuka run roughshod over them all.

And she'll try to unnerve Asuka by acting to Asuka like she did to Trish in their famous feud! Seriously though, this could be a great match, assuming that Mickie hasn't lost much since her WWE days. And now I have all the more reason to get her into 2K17. If she tried flirting with Asuka, Asuka would kiss her then bite her face off and laugh about it.

A true wrestling legend It's so exciting to see her back. About time that the WWE gave her the recognition and respect she deserves. It's also a breathe of fresh air to see a woman from the Diva era, which WWE seems intent on brushing under the rug, return. This will be such a heartwarming and historic moment seeing one of the best ever back where she belongs and I'm perched to watch. I still feel that the Divas era had more than enough talent to have sustained a great division if only the booking wasn't handled by certain people who weren't meant to handle it. Mickie James/Beth Phoenix/Gail Kim/Michelle McCool/Melina/Victoria....goodness, if only they were booked as well as the current women in 2016 we would have had so many fonder memories. Absolutely. The women of that era deserve so much praise for being able to persevere and produce what they did despite their many, many restrictions and obstacles. They have always had the talent, it was simply always the way WWE booked and treated them that was the issue. That's why it really frustrates me when, like in that recent Women's Evolution special on the Network, the era from Trish/Lita to Current is completely erased or neglected and treated as if it was the girls that were the problem when that couldn't be further from the truth. It's nice to see Mickie back at least to represent for that era of girls. I know she'll bring it and show what they were capable of.

I wonder how the guy that threatened to bomb Titan Towers when she was released is reacting to this news?

Her program with Trish was one of the focal points of Wrestlemania 22. The first time that I can remember a woman's program garnering that much heat. Trish gets a lot of praise, which is appropriate, but Mickey is right there as a figurehead for women's wrestling.

I wonder how the guy that threatened to bomb Titan Towers when she was released is reacting to this news? He married that girl from these boards who was convinced Cody Rhodes was getting released every couple of weeks. They're very happy.

Very cool. Will be nice to see her back in the WWE especially with how she left. I honestly feel she deserved more than getting dumped the way she did so am happy to see her back.

Mickie James/Beth Phoenix/Gail Kim/Michelle McCool/Melina/Victoria....goodness, if only they were booked as well as the current women in 2016 we would have had so many fonder memories. Mickie James, Melina, Michelle McCool, Gail Kim, Victoria, Beth Pheonix, Jillian Hall and Natalya was a great division, they just had them split up at a time where they couldnt afford to split them up. Mickie coming back to take on Asuka is an awesome idea though, I have been hoping this would happen as Asuka has no credible opponents yet until they build up Ember Moon to take the title.

Hmm very good unexpected news. On the flip side I wonder if this opens doors for Magnus to try get himself in NXT. Always liked him but there's no doubt he was damaged goods after that title run

The more apt comparison would be NXT's use of Natalya to establish Charlotte back on the first Takeover.

Not that long after they lost the other Horsewomen, in about a year, the division was totally cleaned out twice, so it's no surprise that everyone left is a few months off being credible.

Not only don't I mind them bringing in someone else for Asuka to defeat, I think it's a great idea to do so. Right now, the women's division in NXT needs some extreme rebuilding, and this not only lets Asuka do something off to the side to continue her monster push for when (probably) Ember is ready to take it off, but the Takeovers have morphed into something much more about putting on a huge show to sell an arena out to try and drum up some revenue for how ungodly expensive developmental has become to run, and putting a former star onto the card in a losing capacity to put over current talents is a good way to do that without burning through their big matches all at once. This isn't a Lesnar/Goldberg situation where you can point to all kinds of Lesnar matches the main roster can put on that would be cooler to see than a part timer versus another part timer. When the division is in rebuild mode they could either have Asuka murder Liv Morgan on live PPV, or they could put her against someone currently being built as a prospect, which does their push no favours.

Kenny Dykstra and Mickie James are getting work in WWE again. Weird coincidence.
