Oh yeah so Battle At The Big Top happened the other night. WrestleCircus outdid themselves once again. What an amazing show. I'm still buzzing about it. The six man "tag" match was off the charts. They released the match for free already so if you haven't seen it you should check it out.

In an effort to generate interest I'll post a recap of the last event - Battle at the Big Top
Two fans almost got into a fight before the show even started. Something over something said in a group chat. I was hoping they would settle it in the ring. They went outside and talked out their differences. Sportsmanship! There was a sellout crowd with a new attendance record for the venue since they added +1 seat.
There were two pre-show "dark" matches featuring AAPW students. The first match saw Manny Domingo defeat Bo Bradley with a shooting star press. The second match had Blue Blade defeat veteran Lemos Dos.
Candice LaRae def. Ethan Page Fun opener. This was Candice's first appearance in Austin for WrestleCircus after a few prior missed opportunities and it felt long overdue. The crowd loves her and hates Ethan just the way it should be. It's fun to boo Ethan. He said he's a better looking version of Candice's husband. LOL
ACH & Christi Jaynes def. Colt Cabana & Delilah Doom Lots of comedy in this one. Plenty of fun spots. If you just hate intergender wrestling for some reason then you can skip these first two matches. Personally, I love it. Delilah is adorable btw.
Moose def. Davey Boy Smith Jr This was originally scheduled to be a four way including Jax Dane and Ray Rowe, but those two had to pull out due to do TV stuff. Good match anyway. Davey always delivers a solid piledriver, but it was a forearm that got the win for Moose.
Jordan LenX def. The Trashman (Hardcore Match) This was WrestleCircus' first ever hardcore match and it was a lot of fun. You gotta love it when the crowd is invested in the storyline and cheers appropriately. The basic premise is that Trashman (aka George Gatton) has been a thorn in the side of WrestleCircus since the early shows. He was first introduced as EC3's opponent for the Ringmaster title in a sham of a match. Since then Trashman has been making unwanted appearances and interfering in matches he really has no business in. He's even said some bad things about the promotors' family on Twitter and thus family member Jordan LenX has been booked to end the Trashman. We saw the use of trashcans, chairs, thumbtacks and legos. Leva Bates came out in this match dressed as Sabu and hit a few of his signature spots (like the Arabian facebuster) on Trashman. LenX beat Trashman down sufficiently then got the win after hitting a trashcan assisted 5star frog splash.
Extra Talented def. Monkey Flip & The Boys Another fun match. Lots of high flying moves. Lots of monkey flips. Lots of bananas. All the teams in this match were over with the crowd. Extra Talented got the win. They took the mic after the match to call out Guerrillas of Destiny, who owe them a tag team title match. Instead of G.o.D. they announced Extra Talented will face Roppongi Vice at the next show.
Scorpio Sky def. Mr. 450 & Dirty Andy Dalton This was a three way to determine the #1 contender to the sideshow championship. Sky had a new manager (director) with him. Mr. 450 had a win in hand but the ref was knocked down and it didn't count. Sky won. He always has good matches.
Rachael Ellering def. Taya Valkyrie (Lady of the Ring Championship) Ellering defended her title once again. This would be a good time to note Lance Storm was in the building and I could see him watching his two trainees intently during this match. It was pretty good, I thought. The match ended in a DQ after Johnny Mundo came out and blatantly interfered in the match. He heeled it up big time and delivered a shining wizard to Rachael after the match was over.
Kikutaro def. Jervis Cottonbelly More comedy. Jervis' tickle-based offense just isn't very effective. The best part of this match was Jervis' special ring assistant for the night, who was a special local kid named Matthew. Matthew is over with the crowd and their entrance was heart warming.
Sammy Guevara def. Matt Sydal Wonderful match. Sammy won after hitting a nice 630 senton. Sydal said he'd like a rematch. Sammy said he wants a ringmaster title shot.
Shane Strickland, Dezmond Xavier & Lio Rush def. OI4K (Sami Callihan, Dave Crist & Jake Crist) Holy balls this was incredible. Just watch the match for yourself in my previous post since they released it for free. Instant classic, and maybe the only time we'll see Strickland, Xavier and Rush together - at least for the foreseeable future. This was easily the match of the night and the fans (including myself) threw money in the ring after it was over.
Brian Cage def. Johnny Mundo (Ringmaster Championship) First off I hate Johnny Nitro for what he did to my hat during this match (shoving it through the crotch of his trunks). I just had to mention that. That's the second time he's attacked my defenseless Sammy Guevara hat now. Him and I got heat apparently. Good main event. Tough to follow the previous match, but these two delivered a solid match. Mundo took a scary spill outside when he slipped off the top rope but he was ok. The ref got knocked out in this match and Mundo used that opportunity to attack Cage with chairs. Mundo even gave Cage a cringe-inducing headshot with a chair. Melissa Santos came out to assist Cage. She wrestled the chair away from Mundo and even hit a hurricanrana on him. Cage retained his title. After the match he announced he would not be at the next show, but he'll be defending the title in Japan. He said he wants to face Sammy Guevara down the road.
(side note: Sammy beat Cage the night before for VIP Wrestling in Arlington in a good match)
The show was a blast. I had a great time as usual. The atmosphere at WrestleCircus allows for plenty of mingling with the talent before and after the show. Can't wait for the next one. I'm already booked to be back in the front row. The next show will have a heavy lucha influence so I hope I don't die.

WrestleCircus owner Al Lenhart was Eric Bischoff's guest on his podcast yesterday. Well worth a listen. Just more confirmation this little company is making waves.
They also announced today you can watch all their video on demand with a 30 day free trial to their subscription service. So if you haven't seen these shows yet, you can go to video.wrestlecircus.com and watch all their 2017 events for free!
More talent announcements for Lucha Carnival are slowly trickling in. I'll try to keep the first post updated with the latest card info.

Well the rest of the Lucha Carnival card has been announced. Before I get to that, it was announced this week that former NFL player (and Texas Longhorn) Henry Melton has taken up part ownership of WrestleCirucs. I had noticed him at a couple shows in the past and it's cool to see him join the team.
Here's the Full card for Lucha Carnival next week:

Glad to hear someone else is paying attention. The VOD of Lucha Carnival dropped today and I'll be sure to watch it later.
It's a been a busy week so far in WrestleCircus news. First off, a few matches have been announced for the next show (June 24). Brian Cage defends the Ringmaster Title against Sammy Guevara in much anticipated showdown. Sammy has gotten himself over as "Mr. WrestleCircus." He defeated Cage not long ago at VIP Wrestling in Arlington and also just defeated Keith Lee this Sunday at Inspire Pro to end Lee's 2+ year reign as champion. Sammy's got a lot of momentum, but will he be able to dethrone the dominant Ringmaster Champion Brian Cage? Also, the Big Top Tag Team title will finally be defended as Guerillas of Destiny return to face RPG Vice. That match will be sure to deliver. Another huge tag team match has been signed as reDRagon (!!) makes their WrestleCircus debut to face the Lucha Brothers (Penta & Fenix). That's huge. I can't wait for that one. Other talent that has been signed for June include: Brody King, Mia Yim, Joey Ryan, Laura James, Myron Reed, Michael Elgin, Jason Cade, Space Monkey, Jeff Cobb, Zachary Wentz, Shane Strickland, Dezmond Xavier, Sami Callihan, Dave & Jake Crist. *head spinning*
Another big announcement came with their plans to lease a large warehouse in Austin and turn it into a mecca of sorts for indy wrestling in the area. It's quite ambitious. The opened a crowdfunding campaign to help with the costs, but cancelled it after taking a lot of heat. That drama wa quite interesting. We'll see how it plays out, but it appears the the August Cody Rhodes show will likely be the last one at 800 Congress. The space is just too small for what they want to do, but that venue will always hold a special place in fans' hearts. It will be a bit sad when they move, but I think everyone understands that change is necessary. It will be the end of an era, but one I'm proud to have been a small part of.

This next show is going to be insane. Glad I pre-purchased my front row seat a long time ago. I'm already committed through the August show. Don't be afraid to say hi if you see me there.
I've been slowly re-watching Lucha Carnival. I'll probably do a recap of that show in my next post.

I started writing a detailed review of Lucha Carnival, but then I realized I can just sum up my thoughts in a few bullet points.
- The added production (outside shots, interviews, etc) was really nice.
- The first half of the show what somewhat underwhelming. The second half of the show had much better quality matches and really got the show going.
- I thought the commentary was improved from previous shows until Lance Hoyt dropped a dumb line about blowpops and Christi Jaynes. After that I began to be more critical of the commentary. I wouldn't mind trying out an all new commentary team, to be quite honest. I don't think WrestleCircus has found their "voice" yet (excluding ring announcer Louden Noxious of course.) I want someone behind the microphone that really knows the talent well.
- I really enjoyed some of the later matches on the show. Sky/Elgin was full of athleticism, Rachael/Deonna was a nice change of pace (work a body part - how novel), RPG/ET was an incredible tag team match, Mundo/Lee delivered, and the main event was just insane.
- For a show call "Lucha Carnival" in Austin, Texas I thought the show could have used MORE luchadors.
Looking ahead to the next show - which has now been named "Dive Hard With A Vengeance" - another big match was announced today as MATT RIDDLE returns to face Scorpio Sky. Good gawd almighty.
EDIT: apparently the Matt Riddle announcement was premature. We won't be at the next show since he has a commitment to Evolve that day.

Two updates this week. 1. WrestleCircus is now on Twitch! They've been streaming all their events for the past three days. The next show will stream live for free. You can join in on the fun here: www.twitch.tv/wrestlecircus2. The full card for Dive Hard With a Vengeance has been released, and here it is.

Dive Hard with a Vengeance is two days away!!
The partnership with Twitch has been completed. This is really exciting, groundbreaking stuff. They are going to stream all their shows live on Twitch from here on out. This means everyone can watch for free! If you have an Amazon Prime membership, you can subscribe to their channel at no cost for ad-free viewing (or you just enable AdBlock, but then WC makes no money). Should be interesting to see how big their audience gets on Saturday with Twitch helping to promote the show. Somewhat controversially, they are encouraging fans to use the donate/tip feature to tip individual wrestlers for their performances.
Also, they announced another match as Matt Sydal will face Zack Wentz.

Are they still begging fans to pay their rent for them? Like...this promotion sounds interesting, but that really put me off.

Are they still begging fans to pay their rent for them? Like...this promotion sounds interesting, but that really put me off. It's funny to me how different people view that deal. From what I saw, WrestleCircus put out an announcement one day that they were looking at a new building - one that could house several local promotions along with a training school and become the new hub for Central Texas independant wrestling. Almost instantly, the super fans in this area got excited and began asking how they can help and if they could donate to the project. In response, WrestleCircus put up a IndieGoGo so fans could lend their monetary support in exchange for season tickets and various other "perks." Admittedly, it perhaps wasn't the most thought out idea, and it got them a lot of heat from people outside the area so they took it down less than 24 hours later and refunded everyone's money. I personally had no problems with the IndieGoGo thing, but I could see how that turns some people off. I know they are still working to acquire that building. The IndieGoGo thing was just one way of helping to generate some funds to make it happen.
