5. Jade def. Joey RyanThis was a no-disqualification match. Candice LaRae was scheduled to be at Joey's side, but flight problems prevented her from appearing. Jade brought some backup since Candice was expected to be there. I think the biggest pop of the night happened during this match when LEVA BATES made a surprise appearance cosplaying as SHINSUKE NAKAMURA to assist Jade. Lots of hilarity in this match. Jade got boobplexed, which led to a "Boobplex City" chant. Leva got dong-slammed by Ryan. Joey got a blowpop shoved up his ass, and Jade got the win after hitting a 450 splash. don't forget, same blowpop was put into his mouth after the one-two-three.

Tough Act To Follow is tomorrow and there's been a late breaking change to the card. EC3 has suffered an injury at the recent Impact taping and will not perform at tomorrow's show. As a result, he has been stripped of the Ringmaster title. The main event will now be Mike Elgin vs. Brian Cage for the Ringmaster Title. Jeff Cobb is removed from the threeway to face Moose.
The Twitter post below is pretty funny, I gotta admit

Here's my quick recap of the Jan 14th show. Lots of last minute changes to the card. EC3 was out as mentioned before. Trevor Lee also did not make it due to stomach flu. Matt Cross was injured but still appeared for the meet and greet.
Pre-show match featured two trainees from the local AAPW school. The guy named "Lights Out" won. The other guy had a weird name I can't quite remember. Sorry bud.
Space Monkey def. Jervis Cottonbelly
Ricky Starks & Aaron Solow def Fenix & Laredo Kid
Christi Jaynes def. Allie Kat
Moose def. Jeff Cobb
Scorpio Sky(c) def. Jordan Len-X, Ethan Page, Willie Mack & Gregory James (Sideshow Championship Match)
Jax Dane def. Houston Carson (Bull Rope Match)
K.E.S. (Hoyt & SMITH) def. G.o.D. (Tonga & Lao)
Sammy Guevara def. Shane Strickland
Rachael Ellering def. Jessicka Havok, Delilah Doom and Leva Bates (who cosplayed as Kenny Omega)
Brian Cage def. Michael Elgin (for the vacant Ringmaster Championship)
The biggest moment of the night came right after Sammy Guevara's match. It was announced that Sammy will face RICOCHET at the February show and the place just lost it. Can't wait for that one. Sammy/Shane was MOTN imo.

Full fledged fan of both Allie Kat and Ricky Starks now after last night just very very cool people. Jervis is so fun. I got a nice shirt from him last night (yay). I'll have to seek out that stream. I'm a fan of Kat and Starks too. Ricky Starks oozes charisma and should be a bigger name outside this area. Super nice guy. I see Allie Kat at all the shows helping setup and take down the ring. Very nice person as well. With both of them you can tell they genuinely enjoy interacting with the fans. They put tickets for the next show on sale today and the first row must have sold out almost instantly because I missed out on it. That's ok I'll still be there with a good seat. Sammy vs. Ricochet feels like their biggest match yet. I expect an extremely excited crowd for that one. They announced a few more talents appearing in February. Guerillas of Destiny and Killer Elite Squad will be back. Brian Cage will defend his title. Also appearing: Donovan Dijak, Shane Strickland, Fenix, Jonathan Cruz, Dezmond Xavier and Joey Ryan. They've also announced Scorpio Sky vs. Jordan Len-X for the Sideshow Title. Should be fun.

Lots more announcements since my last post. The big name they announced today was ZACK SABRE JR. Before that, the first three rows sold out in about 24 hours. This would be the fastest the first three rows have sold out @ WrestleCircus to date. Incredible. Here's what's been confirmed for the next card thus far -
WrestleCircus Presents: Taking Center Stage Sun Feb. 19th, 2017 - 800 Congress Ave - Austin, TX
Brian Cage (c) vs. TBD (Ringmaster Championship)
Sammy Guevara vs. Ricochet
Scorpio Sky (c) vs. Jordan Len-X (Sideshow Championship)
Also appearing: Zack Sabre Jr. Scott Norton Donovan Dijak Fenix Guerrillas of Destiny Killer Elite Squad Pretty Boy Killers Ricky Starks & Aaron Solow Joey Ryan Shane Strickland Dezmond Xavier Jonathan Cruz Rachael Ellering Chelsea Green aka Laurel Van Ness Leva Bates (and more?!)

More announcements today! Over 500 tickets sold in two days. Only few general admin seats remain. Astounding.
It was announced that Zack Sabre Jr. will face Brian Cage for the Ringmaster Title.
Also, a few other names were added to the card today: Tessa Blanchard, Sexy Star, and Ray Rowe.
WrestleCircus is on fire right now. I'm seeing fans flying in from out of state just to attend our humble little local indy wrestling shows. Not bad for a promotion that didn't even exist six months ago. I'm proud to have been part of it since day 1. Here's to a great 2017!

Damn, I was hoping that my schedule my free up a bit and I could get to the Feb. show but hot damn those tickets flew out. Great for them and for the wrestling scene in the state. I saw on Facebook they are looking for a bigger venue.

So glad to see more people are learning about Ricky Starks. Saw him back in 2012ish at a Wildkat show. Had no idea who he was,and by the end of the match he had a new fan in me.
Dude has the best facial expressions. I do wish he worked closer to me more often. Maybe WrestleCircus will run LA or MS one day.

With the next show just a few days away, here are the latest updates.
Lance Hoyt just had back surgery and will not compete. He's been replaced by Houston Carson. The Boys (from ROH) and the team of Andy Walton & Scott McKenzie have also been added to the tag team match.
Tessa Blanchard has been removed from the card since she picked up a movie project or something.
January's show is now available the watch at WrestleCircus.com with commentary provided by the team at Heel/Face Wrestling. You can subscribe to their video service and catch all future live shows.

Holy shit what a show last night. I think this one deserves a full recap since there was so much going on. WrestleCircus put on their first ever iPPV and from the positive feedback I've seen I'll say it was a success. I'm going to watch the replay later (specifically for the commentary) but I wanted to provide my recap before I do that. Here's how the show went down the best I can remember:
WrestleCircus: Taking Center Stage
Pre show: First Louden Noxious welcomed us with a WrestleCircus song on his ukelele. That was something. There was one pre-show "dark" match featuring students from our local wrestling school (AAPW). It was their current champion Chris Phoenix (though I think they announced him by another name) who defeated Kody Lane in this bout to get the crowd settled in and warmed up.
Louden Noxious formally welcomed us as we went live on PPV.
DJ Z vs. Jonathan Cruz vs. Jervis Cottonbelly - This was a fun opening match. Great way to set the tone for the show. First by having two unadvertised talents in DJ Z and Cruz come out to kick things off. Jervis made his entrance last and man is he over with this crowd. The action in this match was excellent. Some comedy mixed in is high flying spots. Cruz kinda played the heel in this one. DJ Z picked up the victory to an appreciative crowd.
Joey Ryan vs. Scott Norton - Scott Norton came out to the classic nWo music and it was a big communal markout moment for us all. Joey Ryan is becoming a regular of WrestleCircus. Fans know what to expect from him and yet we pop for it every time. Dick spots. Plenty of dick spots. If that's not your thing, well sorry to be you. Scott Norton sold it all like a true warrior. He would not fall victim to the YouPorn plex though. Joey Ryan would introduce gummy bears into this match, using them like most wrestlers would use thumbtacks. The gummy bears worked against him as Norton powerbombed Ryan onto the pile of gummy bears and got the 1-2-3.
Jax Dane Open Challenge - Answering Jax's challenge were two AAPW students who happened to wrestle the pre-show match at the last WrestleCircus show - "Lights Out" KO Cox and "Grand Hammer" Zornakis. They both took on Jax at once and both got destroyed with relative ease. This match only lasted 3 minutes at most and was completely one sided. Jax at one point had both of them on his shoulders and did a double death valley driver or something of that sort. After dispatching the two local jamokes, Jax got back on the mic and demanded a better challenge. Out to answer this challenge would be Trevor Lee! Now Trevor Lee put up a much better fight, but in the end the power of Jax Dane proved supreme and Dane got another win.
Dezmond Xavier vs. Shane Strickland vs. Rey Fenix - This match was considered by many to be the match of the night. It got "match of the year" and "five stars" chants from the crowd after it was over. Hell, the crowd was throwing dollar bills in the ring at the end and they threw in more than just a few. This was Xavier's first time at WrestleCircus was Strickland and Fenix were both at the last show. All three men were very well received. The debuting Dezmond Xavier picked up the victory. It's impossible for me to describe all the action during the match. Lots of great moves and dives outside the ring. This was just a really exciting match and I really look forward to re-watching it. This match really set the bar high for every match that would have to follow it.
Donovan Dijak vs. Ray Rowe - I really liked this match. Two big, strong hard hitting dudes never fails with me. They also showed their flashes of athleticism. This match is easy to overlook with all the other killer matches on this show, but I still thought this was a great match. Dijak picked up the victory after hitting Feast Your Eyes. Ray Rowe busted his nose badly near the end of the match. He posted a gross pic of it on Twitter if you wanna see that sort of thing. That was a funny bit of irony since Rowe had been saying on Twitter before the match that he would break Dijak's "big ugly" nose. Karma lol. With the victory, Dijak remains undefeated at WrestleCircus (3-0). Rowe and Dijak embraced after the match.
Sideshow Championship: Jordan Len-X vs. Scorpio Sky(c) - It felt weird seeing Scorpio in a singles match lol. I don't mean this to be insulting, but this match was fairly basic. Scorpio began playing heel during this one. Just as it looked like Jordan might pick up the big win, The Trashman came down to the ring to distract the referee. We're not sure what Trashman's business is in this, but he's never a welcome sight for the crowd. Scorpio would ultimately take advantage and pick up the victory to retain his title. But not so fast. Immediately after the match they announced that the Sideshow Championship will now be defended under 24/7 rules. Not only that, but we have a surprise challenger all ready for action. It's Leva Bates! And she's dressed as Joey Ryan!! They announce her to the ring as Joanna Ryan. I absolutely lost it during this segment - this was my favorite part of the show. Leva did all the signature Joey Ryan stuff with the baby oil during the intro and giving away a blowpop. She fought Scorpio quite well and hit many of the classic Joey Ryan dick spots. We possibly had wrestling's first ever "touch her dick" chant. I'll have my historians look into that. Leva/Joanna would hit the boobplex on Scorpio Sky leading to a "boobplex city" chant (a personal favorite of mine.) Leva also hit the YouPorn plex on Scorpio to become the new Sideshow Champion! Huge pop for Leva's win. Great moment. Dare I mention how hot she looks since she's literally just wearing a bra for a top? As Leva Bates is celebrating her big win, the real Joey Ryan comes in, rolls up Leva, get a 3 count, and steals the Sideshow Championship from her. Joey Ryan leaves as your new Sideshow Champion. How wild and unexpected. I loved it.
Intermission - What? Intermission during a PPV? Hey I'll take it! During this time ZSJ came out and a huge line formed to meet him. A few other guys had come out as well, but since ZSJ wasn't part the pre-show meet'n greet he drew the most attention during this time.
This is a good time for me to take a break from typing and come back later with my recap of the second half of WrestleCircus: Taking Center Stage. Stay tuned!

back from intermission...
Big Top Tag Team Championship Battle Royal - Here's how it works. There are 6 tag teams. The twelve men enter the ring individually (at 90 second intervals) and compete in a standard over the top rope battle royal. Once there are two men left, their respective tag partners re-enter the match and it becomes a standard tag team match for the title. The participants are P.B.K. (Keith Lee & Shane Taylor), Guerillas of Destiny (Tama Tonga & Tonga Lao), Extra Talented (Ricky Starks & Aaron Solow), The Boys (Brent & Brandon Tate), Davey Boy Smith Jr & Houston Carson, and Andy Dalton & Scott McKenzie. I can't remember the exact order of entry and elimination, but here's how things went down. One of the boys (I think Brandon) started the match faced off against Shane Taylor. Of course. These poor boys got bodied by PBK last time they were here. They fared a little better in this match. Both Boys lasted pretty long. The first team eliminated was Andy Dalton & Scott McKenzie. They spent the least amount of time in the match. I thought McKenzie looked good with what little he did - this was my first time seeing him so I gave him special attention. The makeshift team of Smith and Carson could not get on the same page and after they were eliminated they fought each other all the way to the back. This match was really fun to watch as it was very fast paced and quite unpredictable. The final two teams ended up being Guerillas of Destiny and Extra Talented. I believe the final tag match was no DQ since there was A LOT of brawling on the outside and fighting through the crowd during this one. The crowd was loving this match with so many of their favorites involved. We thought this might be Starks & Solow's crowning achievement, but they were denied as the Guerillas of Destiny got the win to become the first WrestleCircus Tag Team Champions. Really fun match. Ricky Starks (and his new blond hair) got to shine. I think he was the third entrant in this match and lasted until the end.
Jeff Cobb vs. ACH - This was a "first time ever" dream matchup. It certainly delivered. I'm a big fan of both guys and they did not disappoint. The highlight for me was during ACH's intro when he was announced as "Mr. I Pay My Bills With This Shit." Great pop for that nickname. I'm not quite sure how to describe the match itself - just two guys doing crazy athletic things. Do I need to go on about how great these two guys are? Two of the best on the indy circuit today. Great movement, strength and strikes. Both guys were crowd favorites in this match. Cobb got the win after hitting his finisher. Both men embraced after the match.
Lady of the Ring Elimination Match: Sexy Dulce vs. Chelsea Green vs. Rachael Ellering - The WrestleCircus stipulation is that the first woman to win three consecutive matches will be crowned the Lady of the Ring. Rachael Ellering comes into this match with a two match winning streak. The crowd here loves them some Rachael Ellering. She got a great reaction. Chelsea Green played heel in this match and she was the first one eliminated from the match. Um, I don't have much to say about this match. It was during this match I learned the place SOLD OUT of beer. Unbelievable! Rachael Ellering got the win to become the new Lady of the Ring! Another new title belt debuts as we get yet another new champion! Rachael got on the mic and thanked the crowd after the match.
Ringmaster Championship Match: Zack Sabre Jr. vs. Brian Cage(c) - Fresh off his successful PWG title defense the previous night, ZSJ comes to WrestleCircus to take on Brian Cage for the Ringmaster Championship. This is Brian's first defense of the Ringmaster title. I love the matchup here. Strength vs. technique. What more needs to be said? The strongman won in the end. Cage landed a spike tombstone piledriver for the win. It was a really good match from two of the best in the biz.
Sammy Guevara vs. Ricochet - Bold move putting this match on last. Sammy's time to shine. This was the most hyped match on the card. Both men came out to a great reaction. The match started off hot. Ricochet offered a handshake but typical Sammy flips him off instead. Rapid exchange to start the match. Lots of rolls and flips and missed clotheslines and ranas kind of thing. The match spilled outside quickly. After slamming Ricochet's head into a brick wall, Sammy climbed the support beams of the building. From a beam maybe 10-12 feet above the concrete Sammy performed a moonsault onto Ricochet amongst the crowd. The spot was nuts and the crowd went crazy for it. Back in the ring Sammy controlled the match for a bit and got in a lot of his signature spots. Sammy hit a shooting star press from the top rope and hit "the people's" shooting star leg drop, which is a take on the people's elbow - only he does a standing shooting star leg drop rather than an elbow drop. None of these cool moves can keep Ricochet down. Sammy missed a 630 at one point but landed on his feet. A few stiff looking kicks and a couple suplexes later Ricochet gained control. Ricochet hit a beautiful 630 senton of his own to get the victory. After the match, Sammy flipped off Ricochet one more time. This led to a rock bottom on Sammy and the people's moonsault. Ricochet got on the mic and put over the promotion and everyone. They seemed to hint that a rematch may be somewhere down the line.
After the show Ricochet hung out for a long time to ensure everyone got an autograph/picture/tshirt/whatever from him for anyone who wanted to meet him. As did quite a few others, but Ricochet was the main attraction this time. Class act. Great night all around.
The next show is advertised for March 18th. It will be a part of SXSW festival. They got a bigger venue for this show - the famous(?) Emo's club. Matt Riddle and Colt Cabana have already confirmed to appear. I'm sure plenty more announcements are coming soon. I expect they're going to try to out-do themselves again with another big show.

Time for some WrestleCircus updates! The VoD of Taking Center Stage finally went up on Friday. The biggest downer was that the end of the Scorpio/LenX match was lost completely (technical difficulties). They substituted in some fan can footage, but most of the best parts of that segment didn't make it. Oh well. Still a great show to watch even on video. Xavier/Strickland/Fenix absolutely killed it. I thought Dane/Lee and ACH/Cobb were a bit underappreciated after watching them a second time. The Sideshow 24/7 title changed hands twice over the weekend at another promotion - Maverick Pro in Los Angeles. Joey Ryan faced Sammy Guevara in a match previously booked that WrestleCircus sanctioned for their title after Ryan won the belt at Taking Center Stage - pretty cool. Sammy got the win and the title, but after the show Ryan surprised him with a rollup and won the title back. These shenangians were all captured here: www.youtube.com/watch?v=hyfUnk1-3EYLastly, the big announcement today is that JOHN MORRISON agreed to a multi-show deal and will be debuting at the SXSW show! I've been hearing expectation of a crowd of about 1,500 for this show and JoMo is a huge get for this startup promotion. Can't wait! More match announcements are coming soon.
