I'm surprised no one has mentioned this one, especially anyone who isn't a Lesnar fan: Rob Van Dam over Brock Lesnar at KOTR 2002. I still say this is the single worst booking move of the post Invasion era. Lesnar was way too green to get pushed as hard as he was in 2002 and RVD was right there ready to main event. They could have even done a rematch at the next PPV like they did anyway and Lesnar could have won the IC title and had a dominant run with that belt, then come back some time later to see if he is ready for the big belt. Instead, WWE went most of the 2002-04 period without a coherent top babyface since RVD was buried later in 2002, Lesnar never panned out and quit less than 2 years later, and years later we have to put up with Brock's "cash the paycheck" performances on PPV consisting of nothing but suplexes.
