Lesnar and Heyman have both worn out their welcome. Even if Goldberg wins, it won't be clean and therefore, won't mean much.
I don't know when his contract is up, but have someone, anyone beat him at 'Mania for their big moment and tell Brock to f*** right off

They never learn. They rarely take into account the variable of hometowns. You can see this often when wrestlers appear in their home towns and often lose. I'm sure it's done to build heat. It never works. All it does is piss off home town crowds who want a happy moment, but they still keep doing it, or they'll do the "popular guy insults his own home crowd" thing. Again it rarely works. They still persist.

It's freakin' stunning how clueless Vince McMahon is, and how he seems either isolated from (or bound and determined to ignore) any of the dozens of people who could educate him. He's not just out of touch with his audience; he's out of touch with *humanity itself*.
He thought that crowd was going to boo Lesnar? Why? Why would he think that? Why would he think *any* crowd would outright boo Lesnar? Because Goldberg gave a really good promo the previous week?
A lot of the paying fans *like* Lesnar. Especially his hometown crowd. Just because they also like Goldberg doesn't mean they're immediately going to turn on the other guy. People LIKE Lesnar murdering people. They LIKE Paul Heyman being an unrepentant dick. That's not a bug; it's a feature. People cheered him to kill John Cena. They cheered him to slaughter Roman Reigns. They weren't upset when he spilled Randy Orton's brain onto the canvas.
Anybody could have told him that Goldberg/Lesnar 2 could have been one of those matches where both sides could be the face/tweener. Not everything HAS to be "Let's go Cena/Cena Sucks". Hell, there's MORE money to be made in "Let's go Lesnar/Let's go Goldberg" because then you've got one half of the audience paying to support one guy and the other half paying to support the other one. Marvel's Civil War didn't make ALL of the money by turning Cap or Iron Man heel. It made (again, ALL) the money because both sides were sympathetic.
Does Vince *know* about other sports? Like, does he think that people support the Cubs only because the other teams are EVIL?
Dude's divorced from reality in all sorts of rare and interesting ways. He's in rare company with guys like George Lucas.

I suspect they thought the crowd was going to chant Goldberg louder than they did and when it was obvious it wasn't going as planned, they just ended it abruptly. Way to totally ruin the build though - that sucked the life out of it. Supposedly vince threw a fit backstage over what was happening and ended the segment early...which is why it ended so oddly. I can't believe he was actually shocked at this...what sort of an IDIOT thinks brock is going to get booed in his hometown?

I didn't watch Raw so maybe I'm missing something with the segment, but I have a hard time buying the idea it ended before it was supposed to when the show still had a 20 minute overrun.

Lesnar and Heyman could have done a far better job of heeling their way through that promo - not on the level of tearing Paisley Park apart on a visit, but certainly tore down the Minneapolis crowd's mindless support of a so-called hometown boy who thought so little of the Twin Cities he moved to Canada. That they didn't, to me, is a more obvious sign than most that it's time for Lesnar either to start giving back and putting people over ( the more desired outcome) or simply to fade out his appearances until his contract is up and then disappear (not ideal from WWE's standpoint, but at least they're not paying him to do virtually nothing.) Lesnar needs to step up his promo game - like actually speaking during promos - and give us all a reason both to fear and hate him, especially in markets that would instinctively and reflexively cheer him on (like many places in the Midwest.)
It's also a sign that WWE needs to decide on Heyman's value as a manager/cornerman. His promos have grown stale and lack energy; he's not in good enough shape anymore to act as a traditional manager would (interfering in matches, providing comic relief). Most wrestlers now have learned to cut their own promos and are getting better and better at it (I suppose this is where the writers have been earning their henscratch though we might not recognize it.) If we're going to question Lesnar's value to WWE, it makes sense to look at why we do that - and part of the answer lies in an increasing difficulty in selling the Brock Lesnar show and, thus, his primary booster's ability to meet the challenge.

Don't' chant GOLDBERG! Ok...
Seriously, don't. We're not.
Who is chanting Goldberg? Nobody.
Brock will be pissed if he hears a Goldberg chant! SUPLEX CITY!

I was at the show. Brock Lesnar can not be booed here. Can't. He is essentially Bret Hart in Canada here. He loves us, we love him. No matter what. That said... That was so disappointing. Noone wanted to chant "Goldberg". During the Brooke/Bailey segment, the arena was chanting "We want Lesnar." I do not understand how WWE fumbled this so badly. Play up to the fact that we are in Lesnar's hometurf and we have his back. We are "Suplex City" and he knows it. The crowd was just so deflated after that. I was also at the show - "Uncle Paul" tried everything and just "Gave up". I felt bad for him, but just like Curtis Axel Brock WON'T get booed in Minnesota. Oh, and two variants of the Suplex City Minneapolis shirt were on sale......

Man what a mess that was. Feel sorry for anyone that brought a ticket to see Lesnar just for that.

Yeah, you can't help but compare it to Goldberg's amazing promo.
Nothing we haven't already seen was done.
Brock was called out by Goldberg for not being able to speak for himself and while I understand he didn't personally respond because he sucks, but the guy didn't even make an effort to show any emotion, be it fear, anger, cockiness. Nothing. He is literally getting paid a lot of money to just stand in the ring topless.
There's something very disturbing about that. I never knew I'd be saying that a Goldberg feud was being carried by Goldberg's mic work..

www.gerweck.net/2016/10/25/vince-mcmahon-furious-over-brock-lesnars-segment-on-raw/Well, whose fault is it? The fans for loving their hometown hero or the people who clearly can't read their crowds anymore? If you can't grasp the idea that Brock would be over to that degree in Minneapolis, then maybe you need to really think about fixing the ship because you guys are losing what you used to be good at. I continue to believe Raw got the "less wrestling focused" writers, the ones who still think wrestling crowds are the "sheep" they were decades ago. That they'll only cheer the face regardless because "ooh, Brock's the bad guy. I mean he's from here, but I should boo him because Goldberg is the good guy". And if they think that, then stuff like this will always blow up in their faces. Paul tried, but he knew this shit wasn't going to work, and Brock I think knew, and thus reacted accordingly by full on corpsing instead of you know "getting angrier".

Paul: The more you chant for Goldberg, the more pissed off Brock gets! *Brock with a completely bored look on his face*

Vince is just stuck in the mindset " if booked to be booed , he will"

How out of touch can you be? Expect Brock's hometown to go against him? While he's wearing a new shirt with the hometown football teams colors? And without doing or saying anything particularly heelish?

Ok, I didn't watch Raw but after going back and watching this segment it seems obvious to me that this is the type of thing where Heyman argued with Vince about the reaction Brock would get but the old man persisted because he's Vince McMahon, dammit. So Paul played the way Vince wanted to. Brock's reaction and Paul's not calling an audible can almost be seen as a f*** you to the old man.

Rewatching a early lesnar match I forgot that he used to get Goldberg chants thrown at him so I can kinda see where they were trying to go but yea you don't do that there.
