What the hell was that? Why has Mick Foley been A-OK with putting these two women in the cell, talking it up for the month, only to just now try and plead with them to not have the match?
This would've worked if it was delivered weeks ago when they asked for this match, but doing it now makes no sense. It just came across as Foley yelling at both of them for no reason.
It did nothing for either woman because in the middle of their banter you had Mick screaming out "YOU'RE BOTH WRONG YOU DON'T UNDERSTAND I DON'T HAVE A HIP ANYMORE". Can someone explain why this happened?
(the promo for those that didn't watch Raw)

I guess you could kayfabe that he was cool about it at first but had cold feet after considering his various Cell matches more and more. He would not be the first person to make a decision they'd regret after meditating on it further.

Just watched the youtube highlights, and I laughed my ass off
Bout the content: except Shane/Taker, when was the last time a HIAC match was that violent/dangerous?
Everyone played to his/her cliché to the tee: Foley's superintense warning (calm down grandpa), Charlotte screaming around CONSTANTLY, Sasha with her fake serious voice (student of the game...)
Probably one of the worst promos I have ever seen
Why they don't play to Sasha's/Charlotte's strength, I don't know

It was really effective live. Best promo I've ever seen Charlotte do, Sasha's charisma had the crowd, and Foley genuinely had people audibly about to sob.

I'll give it that. It just seemed so out of left field from a narrative/TV perspective. I guess you could kayfabe that he was cool about it at first but had cold feet after considering his various Cell matches more and more. He would not be the first person to make a decision they'd regret after meditating on it further. And I'd be willing to buy this too if he had shown at least some hesitation before tonight, but he's doubled down on this match being necessary right up until Raw went on air this week. I'm a little disappointed that they didn't build this tension at all and threw it out there 6 days before the PPV.

Oh, I get that much, it's abrupt. I mean, as shitty as it is, he can kind of get away with that given his head injuries, but I wish that they had given him some pause earlier.

Three people speaking in three different tones seemingly with three different emotions. Neither woman was really reacting to him at all let alone appropriately for all his shouting.
Charlotte can handle a solo promo but when talking to humans she's pretty tough. Sasha sounds like the least genuine speaker on the show. Also that "Eddie's legacy" shit is too much. Eddie's her fav wrestler. He's a lot of people's favorite.
All three were tone deaf to the other performers it seemed. Super weird.

Just saw the YouTube highlights, and man that was brutal. The WWE has a tendency to go into melodramatic mode some times and it comes off like a bad sitcom. This was one of those times. Sasha has the same problem that AJ Lee had in that she looks like she's playing a (poorly acted) character. Charlotte looks very credible but is awful on the mic. Foley yelling about how dangerous the match is feels really condescending given how tame it's been for years. Just overall a bad segment.

I've been saying for weeks that Foley's GM character makes zero sense. The guy refused to book Cesaro/Sheamus in a rematch to blow off the Best of 7 because he was terrified that these two men might destroy each other. I mean...how? In a typical wrestling match? Then of course to show he's for women's lib he books Charlotte/Sasha in HIAC, without initially thinking these two women might actually destroy each other. And now a week before the PPV he is worried.
Further, HIAC was mainly dangerous for Foley because of his own idiotic decisions in said matches. No one forced him to start the match on top of the cell and risk being thrown off. Or thrown through the cage.

All I know is I am now deaf through all the SHOUTING in that segment. But damn Foley's promo was pretty good until he rambled on for too long.

I only saw the Youtube link which I imagine was condensed for time and the pacing is fast-forwarded a bit which made it come off really chaotic and strange, but maybe it came off that way anyways. Foley asking the women to look him in the eyes and tell them they understand what they're signing up for and then both women completely ignoring him and signing the contract was really bad.
So many problems, this is too little too late, the tone shift from this week compared to the last three is completely unbelievable, I don't know if Mick was just going off script and the women were adhering so closely to theirs and not being responsive, but if this promo was written to be this way, the way everyone was completely ignoring each other was so offputting.
One of the biggest problems is that Mick is talking like they step into a cell and ipso facto these women are gonna kill themselves, but the difference between this and the most brutal cell matches of the past is that there was a declared intent to maim each other in the others. In this match, Sasha/Charlotte are still just talking about winning, it's still just a match to them. Based on what's happening on TV alone, I would go into this match expecting just a standard wrestling match that just so happens to have a cage around it. I know just because it's wrestling that the match will be more than that, but based on the presentation it doesn't sound like two women who are intent on committing acts of violence on each other in there, so Mick's sales pitch doesn't sound like a viable concern here.

Lots of talking and acting is neither Charlotte or Sasha's strong suit. While it didn't make sense from the story they've been telling But Mick Foley brought passion, emotion and intensity and neither Sasha or Charlotte are the level of performer that could play off that correctly.Whenever Charlotte talks she seems like she's deaf and her mouth is rejecting her words.
I enjoyed Aj & Kaitlyn's contract signing more before the divas revolted.

Mick cuts a screaming passionate promo and then both women pretty much ignore it. Sasha is a student of the game. She'll watch it on the WWE network. Not for $9.99. She'll get that free month soon.

I like how, even in kayfabe where Mick is the GM and in charge of this shit, he tries to prevent a match from happening when they've spent marketing money to promote it on posters and such. Why would you go so far into promotion if you weren't confident that the participants wanted the match?

Charlotte & Sacha putting over the title, Mick Putting over a cage. All somewhat putting themselves over & not doing a good job putting over the actual match.
Lots of shouting.
No bueno.

This would have been a good one to have Mick steadfastly refuse for weeks only to have Steph overrule him because its Best for the Brand.
