I just saw the committee's final rankings, and that just shows to me that 'Bama getting in is a bigger joke. Wisconsin at #6, Penn St. at #9, and Michigan St. at #16. The committee thinks all three of those teams are better than LSU. So Ohio St. beat THREE teams better than the best team Bama beat, yet Alabama is "unequivocally better" so they didn't take conference championships into account. What a load of bs.

There's never going to be a perfect system. You don't want to overexpand it and allow too many teams in. 8 teams would be a good number, and make conference being conference champ a requirement. 8 of the 10 conference champs make the playoffs. Yes, 2 would be left out, but that's preferable to having the 10 conference champs and 6 at-large teams. So for this year: Clemson-ACC, Oklahoma-Big 12, Georgia-SEC, Ohio St.-Big 10, Southern California-PAC 12, Central Florida-AAC, Toledo-MAC The toughest choice would then be who do you take for the final spot: Florida Atlantic-CUSA, Boise St.-Mountain West, Troy-Sun Belt. I'd take Boise St. as the MWC is tougher than CUSA and they beat Troy head to head this year. If you're going to go with an 8 team playoff, the more non-pipedream option for it: 8 team playoff. Power 5 Conferences get an automatic bid. "Cinderella Clause": Move the "Best of the Other 5 gets a guaranteed BCS bowl game" rule to "Highest of the Other 5 conferences and Independents gets a guaranteed playoff spot." So for this year, you end up with: Clemson/UCF Alabama/Ohio State Oklahoma/USC Georgia/Wisconsin It's not perfect, but it's as close to being reasonable as possible.

I am actually glad to see Jackson get invited. He's played even better than last year, not his fault the rest of the team is crap.

Louisville QB Lamar Jackson, Stanford RB Bryce Love and Oklahoma QB Baker Mayfield are your finalists for the Heisman Weird that Barkley was probably the most outstanding player the first half of the season, and got smoked by the field the 2nd half. Sadly, they're gonna milk an hour program out of giving Mayfield his award.

I hate Alabama. Nick Saban is a failure of an NFL coach who gets paid untold millions to yell at dirt poor teenagers every year and gets lauded as this coaching genius because of it. They make the playoff every year as long as they get to double digit wins, regardless of what any other team has done this year. The SEC bias in college football is bad, but the Alabama bias top to bottom is just terrible. This committee crap needs to go away. What does Condoleezza Rice bring to the table? Why not get away from this opinion based BS and go to what Reflecto proposed above?

He's going to go 2-25 before being fired. I guess Gruden turned them down. There's only one college job I can see Gruden taking, and that's Notre Dame. But he's happy at ESPN.
