I've been on the fence on this for a while now, and I really want to know if Skyrim is really as good as everyone says it is. So should I get it while the Special Edition is $40 on the Xbox One?

Thats it. Lock the thread right now. You will not get a more perfect answer than this. I am on my 5th play through (first on SE) and have milked easily 300 hours between them all, and I'm still doing quests I never done before, and I'm still enjoying doing things I've done all those times before. Plus I've already got a sixth character build in mind that I haven really done before.

And if you were doing it on PC that would be a Huge yes. As the mods there are fantastic

My one and only playthrough so far has totalled 586 hours, and I'm still not done with the civil war questline.

If you buy it and like it you will put a huge amount of time into it. So, Bye for now and we'll see you in a few weeks. You won't be done with it by then, but you'll start to remember that other things exist.

Yes, it's good. However, if you have a PC that can run it, I'd recommend it on PC because the mods are plentiful, varied, and add even more replayability to it. If you don't care about that, the console versions are perfectly fine. It's the sort of game that plays very well with a controller.

Yeah, if you like open world RPG your $40 investment can turn into 100+ hours of gameplay easily.
Pretty good return investment.
There's just so much to do in the game and most of it is entertaining.

My Dark Elf Vampire wrecks everything now, and even if he doesn't he will then summon dragons, thunderstorms of fatal lightning and then mysteriously vanish with your blood soaked sweet rolls.

A relevant question would be do you like games like Skyrim?
I bet if you wait it'll drop pretty quickly in price.

Two things:
There's modding on consoles now (Though Xbox One beats the daylights out of PS4 due to some weird choices on Sony's part) and if you look in some stores now you can find it for cheap. I bought it for full price on launch day and saw it in a store today for 29 bucks. I feel like an idiot.

A massive, massive difference. Sony won't allow any mods with any external assets (so you can only make stuff out of parts already in the game) and there's one gig of space reserved for them instead of five on Xbox One.

The world is amazing and huge and there's so much to do. No other games feel as quite as open and free as Elder Scrolls games.
Unfortunately, the writing and quest lines kinda suck, and the combat is super basic and gets old fast(relative to the size of the game), something even mods can't fix.

Yes, the only reason to buy it on the PS4 is if that is your only platform for it. The experience is more robust on both PC and XBONE
