It doesn't help that Jake Arrieta, J.D. Martinez, Eric Hosmer, and Mike Moustakas are all Scott Boras clients who likes to wait late and sign I think someone like Arietta can work for the Cardinals depending on the price The interest in Arietta tells me the Rays are not interested in moving Archer. The Cardinals where linked to him and Colome and the team only spends when they have too history say. I'm sure if Archer was a option they take him because of his club friendly deal. Than again if they wanted Arietta they should be in for Darvish as well. But for me I think if Archer was an option they go for it in a package deal with Colome and give up whatever, I'm sure they have enough prospects to make it happen and Archer is locked in for several years. Than take the money and sign Hosmer who they been linked too and I think the team will look really good. I think the problem is Darvish will cost more. Despite him and Arrieta being the same age, Darvish stuff plays better while we've more than likely seen the best of Arrieta already which doens't mean he won't still be a solid pitcher especially in that division which he's used to. At this point if Rays were serious in moving Colome and Archer than Cardinals need to make that trade now because the price will increase by the trade deadline. Cardinals have to make another move besides Ozuna and I think either getting Hosmer or Arrieta is a way to go and slightly closes the gap against the Cubs

My biggest concern is I see Arietta as a possible TJ surgery candidate something Darvish already had so less of a concern when it comes to giving out a big contract. I agree about the trade, that if it was going to happen, it would happened. Regardless which team was after them. They need a closer but I'm not that hyped on Holland because of age. Really want to shed a 4 yr contract and the money on a 32 year old pitcher?

Right but there's a difference on wanting to take on a generational talent contract like Stanton as compared to dishing out $120 million to "someone else" In the end I expect the Cardinals to take on a low risk closer and get another arm for insurance. If they go into season with a definitive closer and stay in the playoff race I wouldn't be surprised if they call Yankees for Betances but a bunch of teams will

The Giants couldn't even bother with a contract like that?
This team is going to blow chunks again. But then again, maybe this is FINALLY the season when AAAA superstars Mac Williamson and Jarrett Parker finally take their leap to superstardom.
Give me a break.

Declining Longoria in a shitty hitters park and Billy Hamilton isn't nearly enough to correct a near 100 loss team. Glad we got those WS trophies, because this team's gonna be in the gutter for a long ass time. Horrible team, horrible farm. Yuck.

Well if you don't improve the team this season they are going to have some big time questions as far the future is concerned because trading Posey and Bumgardner will have to be on the table to turn the whole organization around

Or you could maybe get Yelich for some magic beans.

No one that matters is coming here on their own.

Next years free agent class will be stupid That why I said this year with the Yankees getting Stanton was a smart move because if they strikeout on Machado or Harper they are still in good position and not all in on one or both players if they didn’t have Stanton

Never beena power guy, more speed/doubles type player and that plays well in that park. Good fielder, good clubhouse guy, good playoff performer. Seems like a SF player straight-away.

Yea he fits the culture but obviously just him by himself isn't going to turn the team around They got more work to do but at least someone in the outfield u can depend on now
