Before anyone tries to say that Rex is a good HC, he's not. His career record is 61-66. Rob Ryan is overrated as hell as a defensive coordinator, too

Report on Twitter suggests Marvin Lewis will retire at the end of the season.
So we've got head coach openings in: Los Angeles, Buffalo, Cincinnati, Jacksonville, probably Indianapolis, San Diego?, and maybe New Orleans

Rob Ryan is overrated as hell as a defensive coordinator, too I don't need to say he was a good HC, but I can say that team got a hell of a lot better when he left than when he got there. Is the new philosophy in the NFL "If you can't beat Belichick in two years, you're fired!" Boy, no wonder the Bills haven't made the playoffs in 17 years.

Here's their most recent head coaches: Wade Phillips Gregg Williams Mike Mularkey Dick Jauron Perry Fewell* Chan Gailey Doug Marone Rex Ryan And then there's their revolving door of hot garbage QBs

I mean, look at the teams the Bills lost to this year: Miami x2: Playoff team Pittsburgh: Playoff team Seattle: Playoff team Oakland: Playoff team New England: Playoff team Baltimore: Damn near a Playoff Team Their only bad loss was week 2 to the Jets, who at the time lots of people thought were going to be a playoff team themselves. No one thought at the time they'd be a 4 win team. Other than that, they beat all the teams they were better than, but lost to all the teams they're inferior to. They just weren't there yet. And now, they're gonna blow it up and start over again. That's why the Bills haven't made the playoffs in 17 years, they expect this franchise to be something they can't be overnight, you can't be New England changing a coach every 2 years. This was the closest they've been in a long damn time, they were knocking on the door to punch through, and now back to irrelevance next year. Such a shame really.

Ryan is supposed to be a defensive coach and his defense regressed again. The other glaring problem is per usual, his players have no discipline. Rather than correct it, Rex is too busy being a complete blowhard to notice. How many games were lost because of stupid penalties? He's not *the* problem, but he isn't the answer either

Speaking about fired coach Rex Ryan, Bills DT Marcell Dareus said Ryan's defense is "just too much detail for a lot of guys."
Cowboys coach Jason Garrett said the preliminary plan is for the team's healthy starters to suit up in Week 17.

Watch as Rex Ryan becomes the latest fathead on FS1. He'd probably be really good at it. Much like Bart Scott, I don't like the guy but I can't deny that he's captivating anytime he's in front of a microphone and much like Scott on CBS, I'd be willing to bet that Ryan can translate that press conference braggadocio into a successful career as an analyst on any of the myriad number of sports programs. This has to be the last head coaching gig for Rex Ryan, right? Few get second chances and even fewer get third chances. The biggest compliment you can give Ryan is that he's an average head coach whose entire reputation is built on his first two seasons as a head coach. But the biggest criticism of Ryan that you can offer is that his teams get precipitously worse over the course of his tenure as a head coach, the locker rooms are often in turmoil, and the players can't cash the checks that Ryan's mouth writes. Looking at the two AFC East cellar dwellers, I don't know which franchise is in worse shape over the long term: Buffalo or the Jets. And the one thing linking the two is Ryan. ESPN reports Bengals coach Marvin Lewis expects to be back for the 2017 season. I just don't get this at all. The Bengals frittered away a DECADE of potential success under Lewis. What more does he have to prove? What else does he have to show? His teams can't win in the playoffs and they're often filled with malcontents who can't control their emotions and allow that to undermine their on-field performance. A few weeks ago I said that the entire Bengals organization needed a collective enema, from the front office to the coaching staff to the players. But knowing what we know now, that Lewis will return in 2017, it's pretty clear that the Bengals' biggest problem is the guy sitting in the owner's box. Report on Twitter suggests Marvin Lewis will retire at the end of the season. So we've got head coach openings in: Los Angeles, Buffalo, Cincinnati, Jacksonville, probably Indianapolis, San Diego?, and maybe New Orleans Feels like he's being given the graceful way out. Man, a lot of those openings look like trash jobs. If the Saints do let Sean Payton walk, he'll be easily the most sought-after coach on the market. Teams will be falling all over themselves to offer him a contract. But if the Saints and Payton do go separate ways, that job could be pretty enticing. The team already has its quarterback position locked down, the offense is prolific, they're starting to construct talent on defense, they just need a defensive-minded head coach to bring it all together. A guy like Kansas City defensive coordinator Bob Sutton could be a solid coaching candidate. At 65, he's a little long in the tooth, but he's an old-school, tough-as-nails defensive-minded coach who'll bring a military mentality to the defense (he coached at Army from 1983 to 1999).

It's been said that the Ryan family, while great defensive minds, really doesn't care about the offensive side of the ball, at least when they were head coaches. Is this true?
Back when Buddy was coaching the Eagles, did he let Randall Cunningham do what he wants on offense?
