Ah well, if it sucks now, time to get back into Penn Jillette’s podcast, which STW distracted me from.

I didn't think the WM XX episode was any better or worse than the last dozen or so episodes but I think I've pretty much reached my limit for how much of Conrad and his schtick I can tolerate at this point.

If you haven't heard it yet (and these last few pages almost got me to not give it a shot) I do recommend at least the first 40 minutes. Hearing about the build to Mania XX from the corporate and promotional side of things was interesting, and they go deeper than I've ever heard anyone go on why Vince vs Eric never happened (a match that seemed tailor made for WM20 with the stars aligning).
The card itself is super-rushed through. This is usually what happens during the episodes when Bruce is only available over the phone (one of the years of Hulk Hogan episodes comes to mind) and that changes the chemistry a lot.
I think next week if we get Bruce on a prime studio set-up it'll be a good way to evaluate how different the show may become.
BTW did the Hogan-Bundy Saturday Night's Main Event episode ever get posted anywhere? The one that was pulled so they could do a Gene tribute, did they record it and post it at any point?

Ah well, if it sucks now, time to get back into Penn Jillette’s podcast, which STW distracted me from. Colt's Art of Wrestling has gotten really good in the new format. Lanny Poffo's podcast also only had a 13 episode run, but it was really good and worth hearing if you haven't.

I don’t think this show will last much longer. It is already obvious, in my opinion, that Bruce has his hands on the WWE product. The tone of the shows, for better or worse, do seem much different since all the recent regime changes. But, people have wanted a WM 20 episode for a long time, it sucks it wasn’t done until Bruce was already half way out the door. I think with the loaded dream episode run they are going on, it definitely telegraphs the show coming to an end. When Conrad said it would continue I was shocked. I'd be surprised if it lasts the year, let alone through the summer. There's no way that Bruce, at his age, can do Vince 24/7 and this show at the same time.

yeah, I have to echo the sentiments of the others on Friday's show. WM XX deserved a little more than a quick drive-by like that was. If you don't have time, do another topic that they could've covered in 90 minutes. Disappointing.

Before the show croaks and gets forgotten about, hear TNA parts 1 and 2 Heyman in the wwe XFL Wrestlemania 9 The Steroid Trial And Goldberg in the wwe Cause it will never get to that level again. I also liked the Houston Wrestling, Wrestlemania 19 and King of the Ring 1998 shows. I got to listen to the XFL and Steroid Trial shows when I have a chance.

Disappointing. 100% agree here, was probably looking forward to this show more than any other episode.... yet I felt like I'd get more info reading a wikipedia article. I know Chris Benoit is very taboo for some people, but he's still my favorite wrestler of all-time and that event was obviously a very important one in his career. If Bruce/Conrad didn't want to get into Benoit talk, then just do a different PPV

Also, hasn’t he had at least two heart attacks? I mentioned on here before that it’s unlikely he could handle the same schedule he did back then, but with the additional responsibility of a weekly podcast? That’s a lot of his time and energy being consumed.

Is the podcast going to keep being short now? if it continues to be weekly, I can't see how it wouldn't be. Bruce is going to be way to busy.

Specially back then. Vince also, at the time, especially didn't like acknowledging the past. The American wrestling industry as a whole never really had at that point. The build to Wrestlemania 20 was only 2 months removed from WWE releasing the Ric Flair collection and realizing how much of a market there was for their archive. It caught everyone by surprise. We as fans definitely wanted it, but within the wrestling-industry bubble I can see that being someone's mentality.

Is the podcast going to keep being short now? It probably depends on the episode, the Jerry Lawler one was nearly four hours.

Well this week's is 2 hours 15 minutes and Bruce is recording from his home studio.
And I agree last week's should have been longer. They did address that criticism at the start of this week's show.

Wrestlemania 10.
I'm almost halfway through and it feels like a typical episode.

Return to form this week. It's a good listen so far (I'm almost 90 minutes in).
