Seeing these marathons on TBS as a kid turned my wife into a lifelong fanatic of this movie. She can quote that thing backwards, forwards and sideways. So you can bet we'll have that marathon going. That's me too.

Not a finger! Darren McGavin is awesome in this movie. As he was in pretty much everything. Fun fact: he was the first actor to land a million dollar contract for a movie-and that was it.

I always argue Christmas Vacation is a more memorable film. Aside from the BB gun & maybe the Fragile leg lamp, does anybody recount anything off the tip of their heads? Maybe "Fudge!" & getting tongue stuck on the flagpole but that's it. The running gag with Randy not being able to run in his clothes Randy not liking to eat The Mom's phone call to Schwartz's mom after Ralphie swears Ralphie's fantasies (Being the cowboy, his teacher giving him an A+++++++++..., going blind from soap poisoning, etc.) Scott Farkus (He had yellow eyes!) The trip to the mall to see Santa The elfs at the Department Store The Bumpases smelly hound dogs The Bumpases smelly hound dog music The running gag with the old man trying to plug everything into a single outlet Little Orphan Annie be sure to drink your ovaltine Deck the hall with barrs of horry fa ra ra ra ra And the pink rabbit suit.

As a kid I loved this movie and wpuld watch it multiple times during the marathon. It was kind of a joke in my family how much I loved it and something that is still brought up to this day. However, I am kind of sick of it from seeing it too many times.

Lately I have watched the DVD as opposed to just bits and pieces of the marathon, it's a bit of a different experience. I enjoy it, but like bacon, nothing is as mind blowing as it's hyped up to be

Think it was 2 or 3 years ago actually got the movie on Blu-Ray as a gift. So during the marathon if I don't want to watch the commercials I can just actually pop it in

I used to like this movie a lot, but it has been repeated/quoted/watched so many time, I'm completely burned out on it. The racist ending is cringe-inducing.
My significant other's family took us to see the musical a couple of weeks ago. There was a lot in that play that made me want to boo and leave. I'll just leave it at that.

DON'T ANYBODY MOVE! A FUSE IS OUT!
I live half a mile from the actual house Jean Shepherd grew up in. (There is a leg lamp in the window.) In the attic, there is writing of both Jean & Randy's name up there they wrote themselves. Think the date was 1932, but I can be mistaken. (What's funny is there is an adobe-style house next door. I bet that wasn't there in the 1930s.)
The Welcome Center has the Santa mountain like in the movie. People attend the hell out of this place.
That said, I don't need to watch the movie anymore. Saw it enough.

I love how the ESPN show Pardon The Interruption had the leg lamp in the background for the longest time.
Anyway, we're watching it just waiting for lunch to be ready, we keep saying "Wanna put some movie or DVD on?" and we're all like "Eh", so we're watching this.

You know, for the longest time I was convinced that the bully's name was Scott Farkus, not "Scut".
